The picture of the 6-port DC appears to be a fake. There is some artifacting above the controller ports where the letters were cloned out. The edges of the controller bezel look funny and the shadow on the extra port on the right side is exactly the same as the one to the left of it. The one on the ...

All the current attempts at mounting a hard-drive on the DC were through the parallel port (the thing used for the modem and BBA) which is completely different from the Maple bus. However, it is theoretically possible to attach a hard-drive to the Maple bus, it's just very difficult and requires a l...

It would only work in one direction. You can get 12V down to 3 using resistors, but you can't get 3V up to 12 that way. I doubt a PC serial port would actually be able to use a 3.3V signal; it would probably just detect it all as zeros, but then again I'm not sure what the threshold is. I know you c...

The DC serial port runs at 3.3V, the PC serial port runs at 12V. Obviously this is a bit of a problem. The MAX(some # goes here) chip is the solution.

You could solder the cable directly to the solder pads on the DC motherboard. You still need the level-converter chip though.

Someone on the Segadev yahoo group was working on a Genesis emu for DC, but the last time he posted about that was in August.

You can't play Genesis ROMS off of a SegaCD for the following reasons: 1) The SegaCD only has 768Kbytes of RAM for programs/general storage. 2) You can only access 384Kbytes of this at a time from the Genesis CPU and only 256Kbytes of this is contiguous. 3) This chunk of RAM starts at 0x200000, the ...

Well as for my observations, the pC version is way better, and less trouble to get, shaper graphics, mor eoptions, you dont have to mess around with shifting the controls like you do in the DC version, and HL on DC is a little too dark, at times even pitch black... Sharper graphics on the PC versio...

I don't really see the point of this "portable" Dreamcast. I'd personally like to see a hand-held version of the DC, but that won't be feasible for a while and even then it will take a good chunk of R&D dollars. As far as the hard drive on a maple bus is concerned, it's not impossible,...
