Re: the hopeless computer question thread

Anyone know: Is there any way to save all your email msgs in Outlook? For example, before reformatting the HD and reinstalling a clean copy of XP, is there a way to back up all my outlook emails? I'm a pack-rat, so to speak, and keep all my emails; sometimes they can come in handy. Ideas?

Re: the hopeless computer question thread

Ok...thanks. Another question: I just bought a 1 gig stick of Samsung Ram PC3200 DDR 184 pin to go along w/ my other two 512 Samsung PC3200 DDR 184 pin ram....for a combined total of 2 gigs. At first, it booted fine and everything loaded as normal. After about a minute of Win XP being on, it suddenl...

Re: the hopeless computer question thread

Don't all rush at once. Another one: Can I use my existing fan and heatsink (if I have one) with the new x2 CPU cuz it's OEM and it came with nothing. I've never replaced a CPU by myself before. Or do I have to buy a special fan and heatsink for the new CPU model? Also, the clock has been consistent...

Re: F**K ME!!!!!

I'd be pissed off too, I hope that they catch whoever did it. Do you have backups of your work? What is it that your organisation does? Would it be possible to organise some kind of community fund raiser to get the funds to pay for new equipment? No, I didn't back anything up. Although, I also didn...

LOL, nice. At first glance, I thought that was WHERE you previously worked. Didn't even pick up that it was a rendered scene. Nice skills.

Re: CPU advice for socket 939

Another computer question: Does the A8N-E motherboard support 4 memory sticks? I think I have this board: http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=1&model=455&l1=3&l2=15&l3=171 If so, can I throw in a 1 gig pc3200 samsung stick w/ my other 2x 512mg pc3200 samsung sticks? Will that be a problem f...

Re: CPU advice for socket 939

Right, and if I were to buy the AMD x2 3800, I probably won't upgrade for another two years. I know most PC games are bottlenecked by the CPU and GPU, but in my case, do you think Oblivion would run any better on a AMD x2 3800 compared to what I have now? And no, I'm not planning on getting a new CP...

Re: CPU advice for socket 939

So are you guys saying an AMD x2 3800 for $90 CAD (includ. tax & shipping/handling) isn't worth it? I mean, that's a fraction of the cost of purchasing a whole new rig (i.e. approx $1000). So a AMD x2 3800 honestly isn't worth it at all?

CPU advice for socket 939

Hi everyone, Looking for some advice from the dcemuers. My rig is getting a little old, and while purchasing an entirely new system is eventually inevitable, I want to squeeze that last little bit of performance from this PC before forking out a big chunk of cash. My current specs are: A8N-E MB, AMD...

Wii availability

Any ideas where one could get a Wii in western Canada these days? The Nintendo reps originally said the rush would wear off in April I think, but you still can't find one retail anywhere...except Craigslist or Ebay...and I don't want to pay a premium for nothing. Anyone know when they expect stocks ...

I've lost the tabs to close web pages, applications, etc....only the option to turn off processes running in the background. Any idea how to get my regular alt-ctrl-delete program back??

Re: Final interview today

Ace, was it a panel interview? One-on-one interviews don't even phase me anymore. I've been doing a lot of panel interviews lately for probation officer positions, so I understand where you're coming from. I haven't landed anything with the ministry yet though. Also have an interview for customs off...
