You may have one of the newer DCs that don't support Cd-Rs. I don't know what the exact symptoms are when using one of the newer ones (how it resets etc), but it looks like it doesn't support CD-Rs. In order to test it out, you could download a selfbooting image of something (a homebrew game etc etc...

well, shortly there will be a way to play GBA games on a TV via the Gamecube Gameboy Player ( which has been released in Japan, USA in June ..I think)..
