Re: BoneyCork Movie [OLD REPOST]

Holy shit, this is amazing. Dcemulation was the first place where I heard about Youtube, all those years ago. I thought it would be a fad and fail. If there were such a word back then, this would have gone "viral".

Re: NFL Playoffs

Speaking of the Bills, I remember John Madden once saying that, in his opinion, the 90s Bills were the best football team in history. It's almost impossible to get to 4 Super Bowls in a row. Sure they lost in all of them, but they were facing some pretty tough teams, that DIDN'T choke on the big gam...

Re: Help with a PC (minor, having to do with power)

Well, if we all followed instruction manuals to the letter, people wouldn't change their own oil, overclock their PCs, rip their own CDs, or use student loan money to buy HDTVs, for that matter. :D More to the point, quad-core CPUs are power-hungry. The 8 pin connector was really meant for dual sock...

Re: Help with a PC (minor, having to do with power)

Hmm.. I believe that connector is part of the newest ATX specification. A few people have reported success using their PCs without it, but who knows... As long as you don't use a powerful video card for now, I think you'll be fine. Just remember to get that adpater as soon as possible. Although some...

Re: NFL Playoffs

LMFAO!!! ROFFLMFAO!! Isn't it amazing that as the season wore on, and coaches had the chance to change their signals, and maybe even, their plays, the blowouts suddenly stopped? And how they had trouble with QBs like Peyton Manning, who are almost coaches on the field, and can change plays according...

Oh, man, what a fucking glorious Sunday... I thought Eli Manning was a pansy, but the guy's got balls of steel. last Sunday Night, we were all Giants... This one's for Kurt Warner, the 2001 Raiders, Coach Parcells, and Drew Bledsoe... To add insult to injury, the Patriots were defeated by a wild-car...

Re: The obligatory NEW PC thread!

Stormwatch, I had those same issues. I don't remember well ( I'm no UNIX guru), but I followed some directions on the osx86 forums, and the problems were fixed. Except for the keyboard, wihich sometimes forgets its settings (those who only use English need not worry). Mulletman, you've come up with ...

Re: -=[Post your desktop thread]=-

It wasn't more expensive than your regular midrange PC... It was part chance, part plan. I wanted a Core 2 Duo system, and maybe I'd dabble in osx86, but it wasn't a deal-breaker. I got a budget motherboard, an Asrock Conroe1333-D667 (Asrock is Asus's budget brand), that just happened to be FULLY co...

Re: A somewhat depressing story

I've been in risky lines of work before. (construction, aluminum manufacturing) One day, a worker fell from the top of a cement silo, and was impaled by the steel rebar laid out on the floor. I also saw a childhood friend get run over by a car. She died later. I was 10 at the time. I think the big s...

Re: Diary of an Anonymous Trepanner

I've read about his fad since it started to come out on the intertubes, it sounds crazy to me, and I think I'll chalk up its testimonials to the placebo effect. Or, as the subject interviewed admitted, it might be more about the thrill of the procedure, and the very real risks of brain damage, rathe...

Re: So apparently, Apple bricked all the unlocked iPhones

As I suspected, Apple is catching a LOT less heat from this issue than any other company would do. The common arguments "But they're entitled to make a profit", "They did give fair warning", "If you don't like it, go back to Russia, you commie bastard!", don't hold wate...

Re: Windows impressions (been on Mac OS since age 4)

System 7, despite its quirks, was light years ahead of Windows 3.1. When Windows 95 was released, System 7's flaws became more apparent. Shoddy memory management was the main culprit. In later years, it deteriorated to the point when it was actually painful to use it in some situations. It became a ...
