Dead Hard drive advice
Hey all, long time without a visit, but I figured this is the only site I occasionally visit that knows about this kind of thing. My old macbook pro hard drive died the other die, and I have been struggling to recover any bit of data I can. I have tried using dd to copy the contents to an image, but...

Re: Cheap mod chips?
If you need some for the original playstation, you can just use a programmable microchip. Quick google gave me this http://folk.uio.no/kyrreaa/psx_modchips.htm You used to be able to get free samples from microchip.com as well, so you could order the 12c508 from them. They may still do samples, but ...

Re: whats everyone doing for summer?
Well the original plan was to start working at a hospital, but no one wanted to hire me for the summer. So then the back up was to continue working at Wal-Mart, but then I had to quit because of on going health issues. It turns out I have some mental illness in the range of schizophrenia. It hasn't ...

Re: NFL Playoffs
Well normally I don't care about football at all, but I guess I'm a converted fan tonight. My dorm had a Super Bowl party thing, and had various prizes. I guessed the the total score to be 34 with the Giants winning, and I ended up with Husker football season tickets. I'll probably only go to a game...

Re: Anyone watch college football?
I think the real winner at the end of the day is Nebraska for getting Bo Pellini back! Maybe the Huskers will take down Oklahoma next year and I can stop living in shame about being a fan of the Huskers and how they havent won a really big game in about 6 years. Pellini may be good, but I doubt he ...

Re: Americans believe in pretty much everything
My understanding of the full communion is if I were a roman catholic, I could attend a service within any of those churches and still be a full participant. If I were to go to a protestant service, the church says I shouldn't receive their eucharist as it is held within a different belief. And this ...

Re: Americans believe in pretty much everything
There are about 20 to 30 Eastern Catholic Churches that are in full communion with the Roman Catholic church. I know that for a fact, one can receive communion in any of those churches and it is still valid. Like I said, they recognize the pope as just another bishop, of equal ranking as a bishop in...

Re: Americans believe in pretty much everything
While I certainly do not have as great as a background on the eastern church as you do darc, its my understanding now that most various eastern orthodox churches are in union with the modern Roman Catholic Church, despite some discrepancies in exact doctrine. They hold the pope not as the leader of ...

Re: Americans believe in pretty much everything
As an atheist I don't believe in following a religion personally, but I do recognize the benefits it provides to society. And along those lines, Christianity in particular has a great message that if actually followed and not taken too far, it will help society advance. The one thing I do not unders...

Re: Across The Universe
Bump I just got back from seeing it tonight. It finally started showing here in Lincoln last night, but ya, I was quite pleased with the movie. Very good story, very well done. The middle got almost too trippy, but just when that started to get a little long it switched gears to being more conventio...

Re: WTB: DS Games!
I'm willing to part with Trauma Center, the 2nd Phoenix Wright game, and Age of Empires. I also have FF5 for the GBA that I'd also be willing to sell. Around $10 for any of them would be great, but I don't really know if some of them are worth that much.

Re: The dollar sign goes in front!
Another area that some people need to practice is the past tense forms of to be. It is not "they was" but rather "they are". The same person keeps repeating that mistake along with a few very similar mistakes. http://a4esl.org/q/f/z/zz86skm.htm There is a nice little quiz to prac...

Re: Immortality Institute
I feel that some form of life will still continue despite whatever we do to the planet. While it may mean that we can't survive, there will still be life on this planet. The downfall of humanity in my opinion will either in the short term be a nuclear war, or more in the longterm our changing of the...

Re: Suicide reveals squalid prison conditions
Those conditions sound too good for a nonce like him Can you explain why child molestation is worse than murder? Molestation leaves leaves a major impact on the child for the rest of his/her life, while murder is over in a few seconds. I whole heartedly agree with Hawq. Yeah, too bad about that pes...

Re: Christian Scientist doctors allowed to refuse to treat any p
While I disagree with denying the care for people on moral grounds, I can still understand it. Either way a doctor should present all the available options to a patient regardless of his or her moral objections, and if a patient requests at treatment that the doctor is uncomfortable with, then they ...

Re: So i may be an Assistant Manager in 4 months.
APE, you assume those conditions are universal when they are far from it. I've worked at Wal-mart for a year now and they have nothing but great to me. My brothers have also worked there during high school and college and they can only say good things about how they were treated. Its kinda nice gett...

Re: Back from Europe
Ya the whole cutting in line business in Italy really finalized my opinion on the place. I definately would not cry if I never got back into that country. I definately want to continue to travel over in Europe and eventually into Asia. I'm planning on getting a minor in German at college and I would...
