There is a working modem driver in KOS. It just hasn't been used for anything yet, and it only works at 33.6kbps. there is no difference of the european and US Quake 3 version besides the BBA support missing in the european version as far as i know. Why cant you join his server with the european version ?

dcplaya works fine with my bba (HIT-0401) and also streams internet radio just fine

though i only tried the bookmarks which came with it (some are sadly enough outdated, would be great to be able to load new ones from a vmu file)

there is a great book in german which offers quite some info on SEGAs marketing history, its called "Spielplatz Computer" (playground computer) i dont know if it has been translated though. you might want to look fot that

i just played around with it for over 2 hours, its a great release
only flaws apart from compatibility on very few games is that the sound sometimes isnt as clear and good as the original sound. it seems to swallow some channels
