Hi everybody,
I search about the different released BIOS version of retail Dreamcast (not DevKits).
I found those version exist : v1.004, v1.01c, v1.01d, v1.022.
I think that the v1.022 is the "non MILCD" BIOS, the last BIOS update from SEGA.
But i ask myself, if there early versions, for example a v1.01a or v1.01b ?
I need to list the complete set.

v1.004 = VA0
v1.01d = VA1
v1.022 = VA2
v1.01c is not really retail. comes from a single VA0 PAL, all PAL retail are >= VA1.
this VA0 PAL has been sold on ebay, here's pictures :

Re: BIOS Retail Dreamcast Dump
true
here is more photos from owner/dumper

on picture below is most likely manufacture month/year
https://picasaweb.google.com/1019852149 ... 5109553314
if so - this unit was made April 1999, a half year before official Dreamcast release in Europe.
ps: however, 1.01d and have no real changes compared to 1.01c, there was just corrected typo in iirc Italian translation - word 'dischetto' changed to 'disc' in few places
in general, some people (including me) tend to think DC BIOS version used in particular consoles is not tied to motherboard revision, but mainly to manufacture date

Re: BIOS Retail Dreamcast Dump
Hi,
Thanks for your answers
So if i understand, v1.01c is a unique BIOS version and v1.004, v1.01d and v1.022 represent the only all BIOS versions for retail Dreamcast (including US/JP/PAL models) ?
Regards.

Re: BIOS Retail Dreamcast Dump
I guess the VA0 console has a region free bios and was made, as written on the console itself, to demo some japanese games before the PAL games came out.

correct.DevDC wrote:v1.004, v1.01d and v1.022 represent the only all BIOS versions for retail Dreamcast (including US/JP/PAL models) ?
with small addition - v1.004 is JP only (at that moment there was no US/EU models yet) and boot Japan region only discs (it have no code which change region based on Flash ROM contents)
later revisions v1.01d and v1.022 was used in all(?) regional JP/US/PAL units.
