[51019] Sega Rally 2 Championship

Post by -=FamilyGuy=- »

Here's my third 2352 DUMP for the Dumpcast, and the first withy GDDA tracks, Maddog will be happy :P

I hope it'll help to verify some games !!

It's dumped with the Parallel port ripper, a 25¢ 100kB/s ripping cable that can rip in data/2352 mode!

Name: Sega Rally 2 Championship
Region: NTSC-U
Publisher: SEGA
Box ID: 51019
Ringcode: 9K004J 51019 maxell CA USA
Barcode: 0 10086 51019 5
Notes: 2352 RAW dump, using dcpprip
More Notes The ringcode is written to be readable from the top-side of the disc, is not visible from the top, but can be read from the bottom (Doing neuronal gymnastic to put back the letters in the correct orientation and order, damn dislexia!), the ringcode contain a barcode.

Yeah, Maddog is very happy since your dump (using the cropped tracks 1+3 of course) matches perfectly ackmed's dump. :D
Ackmed's ringcode is 9K004N 51019.

So now we know parallel port ripper can also dump audio tracks in high density area to same checksums as httpd-ack. :)

Anyway, one more verified and waiting to be added to the next dats.
TBH, I was wondering how come noone else except ackmed had submitted a dump of Sega Rally 2 US since the project start, since it's a pretty common game. His dump was waiting over 1 year until it could be verified.

Since that parallel port ripper seems to work very-very well, it may be worth it if you make a post with instructions for anyone else wishing to follow this route. I know there is info here and there, but a concise post with all info in one place might prove really useful to many people interested in dumping their own GD-ROMs without getting a BBA. If you can spare the time, please do it at some point. :)

Hey, thank you !

A little informative tutorial-like post was already planned, but since I'm studying 32 hours a day I don't really have the time right now :P But expect something relatively soon.

This cable is acutally pretty easy to make, the only downside is that it required a win9X computer to access the ltp port in hardware low-level mode (printer plug weren't made for data transfer at the begining ...)

About F355, I'll re-rip the 1st track soon (150 sectors shorter of course) because I've deleted it to save space on my HDD.

I'm also surprised that nobody else had ripped Sega Rally 2 before, maybe everybody had scratched disc that were failing dumping ? I think the same thing about sonic adventure, the most common game on the DC and still not verified here :P Sadly my dic is so muich scratched that I can't play through the game anymore, thus I can't rip it neither.

I'm happy I've contributed to verify a disc :P

[EDIT]

Just to say that JJ1ODM contacted me to provide an updated dcpprip exe he jsut made, that get rid of the 150 extra sectors (pregap bug), add an option to rip tracks as data/2352 without specifying the sectors to rip and audio mode (will save keyfraps) and now outputs a .gdi !

It just seems like this guy can read in my head !

This will make it even easier to rip games for the dumpcast with the parrallel port ripper !

Thank you JJ1ODM !

Sonic Adventure will be surprisingly hard to verify.
ATM we have 3 dumps submitted. All have different ringcodes. And it's not only different CDDA as usual, this one has at least 2 different data revisions as well: v1.004 and v1.005.
For now, none of the 3 submissions match. Hope luck changes on the 4th (if it ever appears) :)

Missed that since edits don't show up as new messages.
This is great news for anyone not having a BBA. Is this version public, or did he only give it to you for beta testing?

It's public: http://f17.aaa.livedoor.jp/~takotako/index.php#dcpprip
The dcpprip 1.1 app: http://f17.aaa.livedoor.jp/~takotako/dl ... prip11.lzh
Track.txt to gdi converter: http://f17.aaa.livedoor.jp/~takotako/dl ... tt2gdi.lzh
The pack with the DC image and old dcpprip: http://f17.aaa.livedoor.jp/~takotako/dl ... cpprip.lzh

And the circuit (you can ignore the pull-up resistor for desktop pcs):

I hope I'll be able to amke a little tuto sooon.

I also have about 4 other games to submit, I'll submit asap.
