i think most people that "seriously" are into this kind of stuff have access to usenet ;) and hosters like megaupload etc are too much hassle imho... in my opinion it's the other way around ;) uploading the stuff to megaupload costs you not more than 1 click, while you need quite some pre...

ok, lets finish this discussion once and for all... i wouldn't jump to conclusions too fast... first thing: if you found an all in one tool for ripping a DC backup then plz tell me where ;) in fact, those guys here did a lot of stuff. another fact is that NOT only echelon had/have the knowledge to r...

I've still got all the files from my Resident Evil 2 rip, and I didn't have to do anything at all to CDDA. I have seen other releases where the track numbers have altered, but for mine, I just used three dummy tracks for the first three, so that tracks four onwards matched their respective numbers ...

I've only assembled a handful of rips myself, and of the ones that had CDDA, they were all Windows CE, which is a whole different kettle of fish. I'll start working on WinCE games with CDDA soon. You don't need to do any patching of some sort to get them to work, do you? However, for stuff that isn...

AFAIK you can't merge data from two different tracks without multisession, unless you do like the above and manually hack together two ISOs with a hex editor. mkisofs seems to support just that. And then what? Now we've managed to use a custom expensive writer with custom media using an expensive i...

I never said nullDC expects that everything is hacked. Perhaps I was misleading in my previous post. nullDC's CDDA implmentation is bugged where it assumes that every disc it is given behaves like a cracked backup disc. Yeah the audio code is buggy, but it is perfectly usable to tell whether or not...

The SD2 does not boot MIL-CD formatted games; it only boots GD-ROM formatted games. This means that the disc's bootsector must be located at LBA 45000, which means we need to pad the track out by 10 minutes by using multisession--which brings us back to our original problem, avoiding multisession. ...

nulldc is bugged, indeed, but saying that nulldc expects everything it gets fed is hacked is just plain wrong. In fact, nulldc is highly incompatible with hacked content as you can see when you try running games with the echelon intro. Also, since you apparently worked together with the nulldc coder...

I could provide SD 2. I also know that it is possible to change the booktype of discs via bitsetting software. If someone figured out how to change the booktype of a gigareced CD-R to GD-R, the System Disk 2 might work. Why wouldn't it be possible to create a selfboot? First of all not every game is...

Thanks for the hint! Right now I'm satisfied with the UG torrents. They are not the fastest solution, but the longer I download the longer I can seed. But it's good to know that there's a high speed possbility of getting the files :) Btw, why don't you use fileservers like megaupload? More people ha...

So you're saying that you burned just around 400Mb to the disc? May be you should give CDX or the System Disk a try. Also, there are two Utopia Boot Disk versions (1.1 and 1.2). May be you only used the old one and the newer one works? I remember reading comments regarding Gigarec backups that were ...

Well, I ripped Vanishing Point and it played all CDDA-tracks correctly, just like on the real Dreamcast, but I needed to tweak the CDDA-code a little bit to get it to work. Also other CDDA games worked just fine with it. I converted the gdi to a valid CDI and it behaved the same way not using the co...

Interesting. Never heard of it. It clearly has an advantage, but this only kicks in if many people actually dump and release and thats not the case. Anyway, I'm glad that you guys do that at all, so I won't complain

7z in favor of zip

I was wondering why the gdi's were compressed with zip. 7z would have been much more powerful. I compressed the gdi of V-Rally 2 Expert Edition down to 561MB with 7z, while your zip needed 798MB. That's a difference of 30%. Imagine how much bandwidth seeders could save by just using more efficient c...
