Lol, just seems like a so-so movie to me. Who knows though, might be decent.

I don't think anyone expects it to be amazing or anything, but the Simpsons over the past twenty years have really completely permeated american pop culture. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that the simpsons are almost as recognizable as some of the big name Disney characters. The fact that they've gone this whole time without any sort of movie makes this a big deal. Also, I have the feeling that many fans hope that this may bring back some sense of quality that the series has been lacking for the past few years.

That and there isn't anything huge coming out the week before or after it.

The only part in the preview I laughed at was SpiderPig, and that's only because I was really fucking high.

Even though i'm a long time simpson watcher, Im not going to see this movie. The past few seasons have been a complete let-down. All the quirky, insightful and sharp witty humor that made me originally love the simpsons is gone. I don't want to be let down anymore by this franchise.

For those of us who still remember the Christmas special that started it all, this seems like the end of an era (unfortunately, the show will still go on after the movie).

Culturally significant, but probably should've come out 10 years earlier.

Everyone around here is pretty stoked about this movie coming out, apparently Im the only one with common sense though and I have to remind them how bad The Simpsons has been for the past few years.

I will see it, and I will most likely hate it. Hope I like it, but the Simpsons of old are gone.

David Byrne's solo stuff isn't as good as his Talking Heads era stuff. But its still funky. Still good.

The Simpsons is still one of the best shows on television.

The early reviews indicate it's like three or four of the better episodes from the "still-good-but-not-great" period of the Simpsons.

In other words, worth seeing, but don't expect any of the clever wit, solid storytelling, or general greatness of the earlier seasons.

No spoilers in this post

I think the reason it's a big deal is because people have been waiting for it for a long long time, it's well overdue, so it's very easy for people to get excited about it, which makes the Fox marketing so effective.

Anyhow, I just got back from seeing it, and it didn't suck. I found it quite funny and entertaining the whole way through. There were some pretty moments and jokes, including one in the beginning that I thought was pretty funny.

The movie felt like a Simpsons episode, unfortunately more like a modern Simpsons show then an older one. There were stacks and stacks of jokes, some were ill-conceived and some were really funny.

I think it's hard to have a set in stone opinion about the movie unless you've seen it a few times though. Many Simpsons episodes had jokes that you only ever noticed if you watched the episode a few times over and because I have only seen it once it's hard to say if the Simpsons movie would be like that.

If you enjoy the Simpsons you'll enjoy the movie.

And that's my (5x4) cents worth

Thats pretty much my opinion. They are over hyping this movie big time. I don't plan on going out to see it.

I don't like the Simpsons, but I find the trailer pretty funny. I'll check it out when it hits DVD maybe.

You'll be disappointed if you're expecting insightful and well thought out humour, it's mostly the "new Simpsons style" of having gags simply for the sake of having gags.

A lot of the humour is funny, but it's just funny, there isn't anything more to it, it's only funny on the one level. I was hoping that since this is a movie that they would put the time into developing the plot and story it more then what they did. It's clearly a money spinner.

That said I still think you'll enjoy it, I enjoyed it and I don't particularly like the new episodes. Just don't expect it to be like an older Simpsons episode.

There is no denying that the Simpsons is one of the best shows of all time, but anything past season 10-11 is absolutely terrible, with the exception of a couple clever episodes. The Simpsons gave up on storytelling for zany antics and getting the family or Homer into stupid and ridiculous situations that make it look like they are trying to hard to make the show funny.
OOH! YA! Duffman Says a lot of things.
