Whats a Fair Price for Old Style PS2?

Post by royhubbs »

My Brother in-law has a older style PS2 he doesnt really use, and could use the money instead, and id kinda like to get it and catch up on some of the good games I have missed out on since I havent had a playstation in a few years. Just wondering what a reasonable price for the older ones go for I think it has one controller, memory card, and the regular av cables. I dunno what games, but I dont need to pay him for the games, he said he'd sell em separately.

Depending on its condition, I'd say $60-$75.

Game stores typically charge in the $80-$90 range, so you figure about 3/4 of that.

I have wondered the same thing. I have a model five ps2 with the no-solder mod chip I wouldn't mind selling. Thing is I can't sell it on ebay since it has a chip in it. I bought it back when they was still $300. If I thought I could get $90 out of it Id sell it in a heartbeat. It has Final Fantasy X and 2004 crappy basketball game that I never did play.

Well, chipped is probably going to add about $5-$10 to your value.

To be honest, though, PS2 games are so cheap and so ubiquitous these days that there isn't really much interest in modchips for the system any more.

Yea I bought the chip mainly for emulation at the time and it just didn't take off on the Ps2. The SNES emulator wasn't any better then DreamSNES (maybe a hair faster but not much).

SNESStation is quite nice now, there are patches to run roms off the HDD and memory card and from what I've been told its considerably faster than DreamSNES.

You can sell it on ebay with the chip you just have to use the term enhanced ps2 or ps2 with special no solder add on.
