John Romero releases Quake MAP source files!

Talk about Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, or other DC first person shooting game ports and mods for those games in here.

Yep, you read that right. Good ol' Johnny (Romero) boy has finally received permission from Carmack to release the .MAP files to the original Quake levels to the public! Read more here: http://inside3d.com/

I also got to talk to him, he enjoyed the TAoV YouTube video ;D Said it kicked ass actually, it's cool hearing that from the man himself.

That's awesome.

It's great that the guys like id do care for the community and release all their stuff not only for the three major platforms but also the sources.

I once emailed Romero to check a fact about him mentioned in Wikipedia, which turned out to be wrong. Oh, and check out this. He thought it was funny. :P

There were some wickedly good videos on youtube - really nice. It is too bad that my copy of Quake is back at home in Florida.
