Dreamcast modem problems

Post by Nico0020 »

I think my modem is screwed, I connect with MSN, but when it tries to bring up the main page it disconnects. HOw can I tell if my modem is broken, and how can I get a new one?

I think Nico is referring to the MSN ISP (in America) on the dreamcast.

When you try to go online, does it load up any page at all, or does it just disconnect almost instantly?
I don't know if your modem is damaged but perhaps the ISP is dropping the connection due to bad settings?

it says that I am connected, but then drops the connection immediatly. same thing with games. I called sega about three times but they say it must be my ISP, but I can use MSN to sign on to my computer and it works fine.

Can you just use Windows Dial-Up Networking to make the connection, or do you have to use special MSN software? If it's the latter, you might need to grab some software (IIRC I've heard the name "RASSpy" tossed around; never done this stuff before though) that will dig up your real username and password (i.e. the one that actually gets sent over the line). I think I've heard it's not possible to use MSN, but it's been a while since I've seen it discussed.

Yeah, I know this, I encountered the same problem. The thing is the way you entered your username is screwed, and will cause you to disconnect. All you have to do is this
Username: MSN/your-user
PASS: your password
it's either MSN/youruser or MSN\youruser
I asked this same question a little whiule ago and someone told me the answer. This will fix your problem.
Another great and interesting post brought to you by the DoughBoy!

P.S. I'm looking for A Turbo Express, PM me if you got one.
