iPod Nano

Post by az_bont »

I don't know if anyone posted about the news of Apple purchasing massive amounts of flash memory a few weeks ago, but they've certainly put it to good use.

Its available in 2GB and 4GB versions, and replaces the iPod Mini.

i clocked my new 20 gig ipod photo/color to 15 hours 23 min of battery life with it on play shuffleing my entire collection (2300 songs) with the hold switch "on"...

it looks ugly...atleast in that pic above. it looks like someone streched out the standard ipod....

nano

-

/nan'oh/ 1. <unit> A prefix meaning 10^-9 or one billionth.

Used loosely to mean "small", e.g. nanotechnology, or
(rarely), following "nanosecond", to mean a short time,
e.g. "I'll be with you in a nano".

I'll be waiting for when the ipods with screens get down to about $75-$100.

I love my iRiver.

But that is indeed small. I'd rather have something with a bigger screen though, that looks hard to read.

startplane? Or regular searching?

I would get one except I got the scraps of an archos (dead hd :P ) for 12 bucks 2 weeks ago. No use in having 2 players.

Anyone else think it looks TOO small?

Not really, all you need in an MP3 player is for it to fit comfortably in a pocket; the actual usability is all remote + headphones.

Battery life / storage capacity etc are just personal preference - to be honest I'm surprised nobodys made an MP3 player that is just a nice pair of headphones with all the RAM, controls, whatever just built into the earpiece.

And if they have I don't know about it but I'm sure someone will link it.

This thing is going to make my penis look HUGE.
On an actually related note, the new iTunes v5 is sexy as hell.

They have an mp3 player that is on a watch, I remember that from overstock, so it shouldnt be much harder to mod that to a headphone. Only problem with that is it is max 256 mb I think.

If there is a way to lock the headphones to it, then it would be fine. But anything smaller than a gameboy pocket would get lost (unless it is money or something). Which is why I favor bigger players.

Will it allow 3 or 4 songs on a screen at once?

it's a smaller screen than the mini was, but higher resolution... so I would say 4 at least.... might be a bit hard to read, but *shrugs* i'm sure it may be adjustable on something that small.

I know that Circuit City has sunglasses that have an MP3 player built into them. However, nobody would be caught wearing those things because they are the most hideous sunglasses you've ever seen.

I keep getting an error telling me to close iTunes. I went into Activity Monitor and made sure nothing was running.

You may have iTunesDaemon startup when you start the computer... check under system prefs --> users--> startup, and make sure you dont have bytecontroller or anything to do with iTunes. Also check if you have iTunes widgets open.

ir teh stoopid

I had sizzlingkeys running and forgot to close that. Now that I have it, I must say that v5 is a very welcome revision. More succinct and streamlined, it's no wonder they didn't update the 4+ year old interface sooner.
