Anything else I need for my computer?
I've got the specs all laid out here:
BFG nForce 4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard ? 109
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor ? 146
Leadtek Geforce 6600GT 128MB PCI Express x16 Video Card ? 154
Kingston ValueRAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR Memory ? 200
ENERMAX EG465P-VE (FC) ATX 460W Power Supply ? 53
RAIDMAX Storm ATX Gray/Silver Gaming Case ? 52
SAMSUNG 200GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA II Hard Drive?107
Wanted to make sure all those parts are compatible, I'm pretty sure they are (double checked them myself, but this is my first attempt at custom building a PC) Also wondering if there's anything else I should be buying? Should I throw in some fans/heatsinks and other cooling devices? From the reviews I've read, most of the parts I purchased run relatively cool. I already have a CD/DVD burner, Keyboard/Mouse, printer and speakers.

an anti-static strap ?
mmm Kingston ValueRAM, i've heard of problems with this on nforce boards, always go with Crucial myself. if your going with an nForce board you might want to check out http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/ for info about any potential issues
also i personally, if i was building a system now, i would get a bigger power supply than that, at least 500 maybe even 600, you will want to upgrade your graphics card later and, well, they all sook juice like a toddler now.
although it's probably big enough for that system.
you need a lot of amps on the +12v rail for a 6600GT, read this -

Ya, it is.
Anyone else know anything about Value Ram and nForce mobos? And if there's a problem, know of a brand that has 2 GB of Ram (DDR 184 Pin) for a similar price (give/take 30 bucks).

You don't need a soundcard. Onboard sound is pretty damn good these days. You don't need a "top quality digital camera" nor a printer/scanner/copier/fax machine. Wireless mouse and keyboard? ROFL. If he's getting all this stuff I am assuming he is going to play games on it and wireless and games don't mix.Dark Savant0 wrote:I dont see a sound card.....
Wireless network card.
A top quality digital camera.
Printer/Scanner/Copier/Fax thingamabob.
Make sure the mouse and keyboard are wireless.
Wireless speaker system.

On board sound, my router/modem is in my room, I already own 2 digital cameras, my dad has an all in one, I own a Wireless Keyboard/Mouse combo, and I own a very good wired THX certified speaker system.Dark Savant0 wrote:I dont see a sound card.....

I think I might get a few cathodes to put in the case and stuff, but as for cooling, does it look like I'm set? I don't run 10 programs at once, the greatest load would prob. be a game and Windows Media Player at the same time.

The PSU I've picked up has 460 Volts, seems reasonable for the hardware I am running at the moment. It's got 33 amps on the 12v rail, so I think it should be good in that regard.mikozero wrote:an anti-static strap ?

The stock cooler and some case fans will be enough. You really shouldn't get that case though, the airflow is shit. If you want a nice case and can spend a bit more go for the Antec Super Lanboy
You're also going to need a different power supply as I don't see anywhere on the one you want saying it's got a 24 pin connector, which you need. You'll ned to spend a bit more to get a quality power supply with the connectors you need. You might just want to check out the Antec Sonata. It's a very classy case and comes with a power supply that SHOULD be 24 pin. I bought the cheaper Antec case for a build for someone else and it came with an upgraded power supply, so I am assuming they upgraded them all.

Forgot about onboard. Thinking about the old computers that I mess around with.
An xbox usb controller, or something to play games with. I assume you have one.
A usb hub incase you need more plugins.
Floppy drive.
DVD/CD-RW drive. I wouldnt take a dive into the dvd-r drives just yet seeing as how the hd and blueray wars are just beginning.
A vga box/cord for your DC.
Where did you get the harddrive? When I first looked at it, I thought it said 20gb.

not completely necessary. you could always use cd's instead. although you would probably be wasting an 800MB cd on a 1MB file. but seeing as cd's are so cheap nowadays, it wont matter.Dark Savant0 wrote:Floppy drive.
of course you could probably find floppy drives for $5/$10 now, so its really your option here.

When your pc is so fudge that it wont even recognize your cd drive, you will have wished you had listened to Dark Savant0.
