My painted controller.. anyone else paint anything?

Post by stagg »

Its cool to be on the forum. I'm 14, and just got a dreamcast for 20 bucks. I used to have one, and i found some games, but the system was broke. And i just picked up a brand new NBA 2k1 for 1.50 at EB.

It originally was the stock, gray controller, but i painted it. Also, its more blueish in real life then the picture.

I really like the color's. And i'm thinking of painting my other controller same colors, but inverted. And im also thinking about painting my system, and changing the LED to blue, do you think i should?. I'm used to solding small things, as iv worked on very small PCB's amd serface mount resistors are a pain to solder, lol.
Well i hope you like it.

Do'h, is this sopposed to go into Art, Screen Shots, & Covers?

Nope, should have been put on Hardware Modification and Repair, but someone will move it. Don't repost it! Looks nice, glad to see you have a working system now.

Looks nice, what kind of paint did you use (glossy, semi gloss etc.) and how much did you sand down the controller (if any). Also, does it feel sticky in your hands?

I used some cheap 2 doller spray cans. I think it's semi glossy, and i didn't sand my controller down at all. I washed it with Dishwasher Soap(after i took everything out :D ) then took a hair dryer and dried it.This is the best way i think, cuz then theres no hair, or dust that could get under the paint, well not much anyways. Also, doesnt feel sticky much, i mean it kinda does, but i like it better, feels like a grip.

Also, the key to spray painting, is Lots of THIN coats, Thin is the best way.

Yea, just always use lots of thin coats. And if you'd want, get some primer, to help the paint to stick.

hehe i should get some bondo, and mod the controller.

Use Krylon Fusion paints. All other ones look really horrible, unless you have some sort of super high gloss automotive style airbush paint.
Very sexy hero, omg

Alright, I'm going to Wal-Mart today. I didn't want to paint my DC yet, becuase I might screw it up. A controller looks like the perfect thing to start on.

That's a pretty sweet controller, but I personally think it would be better with either a Red-Black or a Blue-White combination. But that's my personal opinion, so don't take me that seriously.

I heard that you do a lot of customization. Do you think that if I sent you something and some money that you could paint it or do something with it? They would be pretty sweet.

I hit one of my controllers with some black satin Fusion.... Looks beautiful, but I've already worn it bare in a couple spots. =_= I'd take a picture, but my piece of shit pencam fucked up while I was already in a really bad mood.

So I burned it.

I guess it takes 7 days to become chip-proof, so I guess heat and sweat-proof too?
