The ambitious heir had even formed a shadow government on the outskirts of Iraq's capital, Baghdad that was disguised under the cover of his powerful Olympic committee and funded by murky oil deals, he said... pfffft wouldnt have worked. clearly, to topple a dictator you have to kill 18,000 civilians in the process- we all know that.

his son was a very brutal person. He would have killed a lot more the 18000 just to instill fear in his people. He used to cut the legs off of people for coming in second place in a event.

You're forgetting that the blind hatred of Bush on behalf of some will not allow them to see the truth in that, so you'll likely see people saying things like: "Damn you, Bush!111 we could have saved so many people by allowing his son to overthrow him, instead of invading and raping the Iraqi people.", or something equally nonsensical.

On a side note. From what I understand, he was much sicker than Saddam is.

Yeah, he would have been so cruel it would have led to a revolution - and most probably, Civil War. That conflict would have killed quite a bit more than 18,000, I would guess.
