There were some ideas for something like that here:
http://www.dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=51463
I'd love to see the GoldenAxe: The Duel Characters and Sound/Music used for this!
GoldenAxe3 on MD/G was also very good but the GA: The Duel grfx are much better!

There's Golden Axe on GBA. Sure the resolution is kinda low but it's still Golden Axe. Also, I think you'd better wait until Age of the Beast comes out so you can do this mod properly. I, for one, am waiting for some mods ideas to come out when AotB does. ...long story short, good idea but not right now.

I didn't think much of Golden Axe on the GBA. I only played it briefly on an emulator, but it seemed pretty generic - I got the same sense of genericness that I get when playing Master System games. Maybe I didn't give it enough time...

I use Visual Boy Advance to rip the screenshots from the GBA. Easy way to do it, record an AVI in VBA...then bring it over to a Animation program for animated gif files (I use Animation Shop) and then strip the sprites. I know it takes a while to do it this way...but it's the only way to do it

Should be easier to use the sprites of the Sega ST-V Titan arcade board (has Saturn specs, comparable would be DC <-> NAOMI1/2/AW) version, as Golden Axe: The Duel was a port of that game.
