Post by Quall »

Is the DC zip drive available, or did sega just decide to cancel it?

Someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure it was cancelled. I wish it would have gotten released... it would actually allow us to download and store other files from the net... ahh well.

So Resident Evi: Code Veronica was supposed to have zip drive support. I wonder if it was included in the first release or the second. Or was it even included in both of them, or not at all. Just like Sega to make a great console, announce things, never say anything else, and leave mysteries behind.

mmmm.... that zip drive on the dreamcast is just too sexy. i would want it even if it didn't work. it would just look soooo cool.

can you imagine the possibilities that would have offered? they could make some sorta game making thing like nintendo for their 64dd. you also would have been able to download whole games off the internet, or used files from a pc. oh god... it's so sad it died.

Well I said the same thing in the last DC Zip Drive topic but I guess I'll just say it again. I wonder in RE:CV had zip drive support in the game and the option only appeared when the zip drive was connected. Just like F-Zero X had 64 DD support even though the 64DD wasn't released. Who knows? There may be other options in RE:CV that no one knows of. :D

Yeah that would be really cool if someone could build something to simulate a zip drive and make the dc think it was one just so we could see what the extra options might be even if the thing couldn't actually save or anything :P

Jeeba, did you mean the 64DD?, if so Nintendo did actually release it, it just never came out outside of Japan.

when downloadable console games get popular... an external drive will be popular.
