Thoughts on this?

Post by Skynet »

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere else on the forums, so I wanna ask you guys what you think of this:
Nintendo.com wrote:Other upcoming third-party games made for Nintendo GameCube include Tales of Symphonia and Baten Kaitos from Namco, GoldenEye 2, NASCAR Thunder 2005 and Madden NFL 2005 from Electronic Arts, and WWE Day of Reckoning from THQ.
How do you make a sequal to a game based on a movie that didn't have a sequal?

Oh... well that will suck then :(

And I didn't notice that EA was to do GE2. I saw EA was in there, but I didn't pay attention to them doing GE2. Well, that sucks ass

EA currently hold the rights to do Bond games. They're obviously trying to (belatedly) cash in on Rare's success with Goldeneye.

Eugh...

Actually, it seems like a pretty interesting concept. You play through the game as a rogue agend presumably working AGAINST Bond, and the gameplay is built on the FPS-style of the first Goldeneye and Nightfire.

I'm all for Bond games... IF THEY'RE GOOD!

I wonder if EA thinks they are actually making good Bond games.

Nightfire was mediocre. Not bad, but certainly no killer-app like Goldeneye. Agent Under Fire was inexcusable garbage. But...have you tried Everything or Nothing? It's a different take (more of an action/stealth mission based approach, like MGS or Headhunter...though a bit heavier on the action than either of those), and actually came off as a VERY fun, entertaining, and well-produced game on all three consoles (though I wouldn't recommend the GBA adaptation ;-)).

Not as yet. But given the oportunity I will look into it.

Well, like past EA Bond games I'll remain distant from them until I read more about it and see some screenies

If you want the original core group of people from Goldeneye, forget EA and forget Rare...go pick up one of the Timesplitters games instead ;-)

Everything or Nothing was pretty brilliant so they may get a handle on it and come with a prety good game. Personally I don't think they're gonna balls it up as much as Nightfire/AuF.

Everything or Nothing was brilliant no doubt, but by no means better than Goldeneye was.

Goldeneye is a classic of all games, nevermind just Bond ones.

Very true.

I've been looking into this new game and all I can really think is why is it called GoldenEye 2? It looked to have nothing to do with the movie nor the game. And has a lot to do with Goldfinger? :?:

It's made from all the stories it seems. They're using damn near every character. It's called Goldeneye cause you have an accident or something I can't remember, anyway and end up with a Golden eye. Dosen't sound good but meh..

Seems like they're trying to make a sort of Bond Bonanza, all characters from differant films etc.

Ah yeah, I just read some more on it yeah that eye thing sounds kinda weird.

Hmmm... I'm still wonderring on that concept myself. It probably sounds like a good idea in theory, but it will probably end up in a "looks theres such-and-such from [insert bond title]!!!!"

I'll keep an eye on this one, but I won't get my hopes up
