Good news.

The first two auctions at Ebay, 1329667457 and 1329665533 have been removed.

At first I was slightly angry because I though they were telling me that they weren't removing the items. This was the message:

Code: Select all

Hello,

Thank you for writing eBay.

We have reviewed the auction you have brought to our attention and taken
appropriate action. We would also like to explain eBay's policy with
respect to reports like yours. eBay is not in a position to make
judgments about the authenticity or authorized nature of auction items,
except in the most extreme circumstances. This may mean that we cannot
remove the item about which you contacted us.
I missed a single word that changed the meaning entirely 'This may mean that we cannot
remove the item about which you contacted us.'. So this was just a boilerplate message.

I checked, they are gone.

I bought Zelda oracle of ages off e-bay and it was advertised BRAND NEW. Well I got it and noticed it was not new and the cart was a regular game boy cart and the label was a printed sticker of the box. The Box was not orginial, and I opened the cart up and could easily tell it was not made by Nintendo. I contacted Nintendo and I beleive they shut him down or something cause he was selling 100's of Gameboy and GameBoy Color games listed NEW and they was all bootlegs. Even the manual was printed out (it didn't have all the pages with it.

Pissed me off cause it was only 5 dollars cheaper then buying it local (it was 25 bucks after shipping).

the 4th ones active, but they just removed the emulator and game section (the entire first 3/4 of the page)... it was probably just a complete rip anyways as he had stuff like a ps2 emulator, etc... good to see a little vigilance pays off though... anyone wondering what i was doing searching throgh ebay, i was buying one of these:

what was funny is I was searching for a sega cd game (just sega cd in general) and I hit the Search Titles and descriptions and I saw a ton of those auctions. Yea they said crap like

"Play Xbox, Ps2, and Gamecube games right on your PC!! YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO BUY GAMES!!!"

So I figure 1 of 2 things.

1. He is a big fat lier and ripping people off. OR

2. He is a alien from a planet far away and he has secretly developed a program that can do all of this.

Well, it's good to see that e-bay is doing a good job, but those bastards kicked me off for not paying rip-offs like those people. By the time I figured out that they were boot-leg games, I'd already won the auctions and refused to pay. I didn't pay for two baseball cards I realized were altered. Oh, well, atleast they got this one right.

As I sell on ebay, my recommendation is 1)if it is too good to be true, beware; 2) take a look at the feedback level next to their name. If it is in single digits, then it is a gamble. Also, click on it to see the last 6 months so you can see how many positive and negative feedbacks have been left behind. Also, if you have purchased something and you got good service, it is important to leave positive feedback. This helps differentiate between the scam artists and the real deal. I was on ebay this past week looking to find some import stuff for the Dreamcast, and I found this auction that applied to my first recommendation 1). It was a system with a bunch of games but all the games were simply the disc only, and the cover art on the disc was not authentic (plus I saw one of the discs had a green bottom !!). I emailed the highest bidder and warned him that it was a bunch of bootleg stuff. Usually, the higher the feedback, the safer the transaction.

Yeah it is illegal to sell DreamSnes and it does have a disclaimer, but it is also illegal to sell any freeware emulator especially when roms are included with it (I kinda doubt they are PD roms)

e-bay must be keeping an eye on things now... some dude had a DC for sale with 250 cdr's... it lasted a couple of hours. Whilst I do like backups I DO NOT like people selling them.
