man thatd be kick ass. shaped exactly like the original case, with a nice light finish. then have the swirl carved into the top where it would normally go, and put a little something in the crevices to make it darker than the rest. awesome!!markush wrote:wow, thats a great idea. Now what I want to see is an all wood case.

my very first hardware mod with my DC was a shoebox case. rigged it up nice, cut holes for all the ports, and used a string so when you opened lid it would see that lid was opened and all.or cardboard, although a fire hazard.

anyways, id really like the lego mod. it'd be cool just to see its progress. i was an avid lego person back in the day. heck. at one point i managed to make my own working submarine with lego's. watertight and everything. but after many years of having them scattered all around the house, lego's are pretty much a null word in this house. the closest ive ever gotten to lego's after that was lego creator. nice game, but very VERY buggy.

exactly, I was thinking the same thing. With the swirl. Oh I dont want to seem like I'm copying the whole lego dc thing, but I was thinking about it too after seeing some pc lego cases. I actually out out some legos and tried to see if I could whip something up. I didn't really do much, but the legos seem like they would work great. If I do do it, I'll probally not have the 56k in it, and instead put my mindstorm thing.Mikey1109 wrote:man thatd be kick ass. shaped exactly like the original case, with a nice light finish. then have the swirl carved into the top where it would normally go, and put a little something in the crevices to make it darker than the rest. awesome!!markush wrote:wow, thats a great idea. actually... cardboard isn't as much of a fire hazard as you'd think... so long as the fan is working correctly and there is a bit of empty space around the processor... if the fan breaks down, though... but most CPU's will shut down waaaaay before they get to getting hot enough to set fire to something... as for sparks, you have just as much chance of setting anything on fire as cardboard if sparks arise...
oh, and that reminds me of a PC mod I saw in Maximum PC... one of the writers took cardboard, cut holes for the fan, etc, placed drives, etc. in silly locatoins and positions, then sprayed a foam that dried to a rubber-like solid... his point? That a case comes in many varities, and the standard box shape isn't needed...

tried it. nightmare . give up
the dreamcast i have spare is different on the inside than the other two
it has an ugly pale controller board and a fixed METAL cased fan to the
mainboard.
the gdrom is dated 1999.
i'm gonna skip the lego idea... back to the drawing board.![Crying or Very sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)

While watching The TMNT movie, I decided to atempt this.

I think, it will look better once I make the edges rounder and the top's finished.
I'll incoperate technic when I make the lid open by it's own. PS. if you look at the left side of the case in one of the pics, it has an opening where the "lego modem" will slide in.
