I'm glad Nintendo is going to non-traditional outlets like Time to get the Wii out there. Next, they should tackle college campuses. I know too many people that will only play the old games and bitch and moan about Halo 2

The very fact that you can call Time a "non-traditional outlet" in this context and not sound completely absurd seems like it pretty much vindicates Nintendo's basic idea...

MGS 4 is prolly the only ps3 game that would even make me consider dropping the rumored amount of money for the console. Other than that, the only reason I would watch sony's thing with e3 is to verify that those demos they've been showing were actual in game play and not a cut scene.

Rofl.

Sony's new controller is the dual shock 3, basically. And it has motion sensors in it.

Draw your own conclusions.

edit: beat'd by eviln.

NOV 17th - 499 US for 20 gig, 599 for 60 gig.

Yeah, big surprise. They recycled the DualShock design again, and crammed in the latest market gadgetry (wireless and motion sensing). "You've got shoulder buttons? Well, we've got TWO sets! Analog stick? Two. And they *CLICK*. Rumble? Two. Oh, so your triggers are pressure sensitive? Well, EVERY BUTTON is pressure sensitive! Take that, bitch!"

And now this.

No wonder the DualShock is such a convoluted, unergonomic mess.

Pics anyone? This sounds hilarious.

It's also funny how Nintendo said they were holding off announement of the controller because everybody will copy it. And they did.

...And, OUCH.

Feel your pocketbook screaming?
Today we're pleased to announce the global PS3 launch details. We will make PS3 available via a two-configuration plan. One with a 60GB HD. And the other with a 20GB hard drive. Japan's date: Nov. 11. In Japan 59,800 Yen. The 60GB PS3 will have an open price which retailers will set. In North America: 20GB for $499, 60GB for $599. Europe has 20GB for 499 Euro, 60GB for 599 Euro. 2 million to ship worldwide during the launch window. 4 million by end of calendar year 2006. By March 31, 2007 they'll have shipped 6 million worldwide.

Wonder how much they paid to settle the lawsuit.

The dualshock needs a redisign. I mean I can get used to one, but it could be much more ergonomic.

Funny how the Euro prices are the same as the dollar amounts :?

Here's hoping that Nintendo sees the light and gives us a sub-two pricetag.

Also, just a picky fine-arts-student thing: by abandoning all their concepts and going back to the DualShock, the "design aesthetic" (if this ghoulish Frankenstein of a controller can be described that way) of the controller in no way matches the design of the system itself. Like the controller itself, they look like random parts from different things stuck together out of convenience.

Five hundred bucks ain't nothing to sneeze at. Though, the motion sensor demo seemed kinda cool...

But not five-hundred-dollars-cool. Good luck with that, Sony.

500 dollars.... No way I'd ever pay that. I think the last console to be $500 was the Sega Saturn. We all know how well that did...

Nintendo has a major opportunity here.

So exchange rates put PS3 at US$633 and US$760 for Europe. Ouch, indeed!
