boob!play

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Post by Maturion »

I just found "boob!play" on DCEmu UK. I can't download it from there so I can't ty it out myself. What is boob!play? is it a fake? I searched on boob.co.uk for it but I didn't find anything about it, not even a download.

What's boob!play?

You can download boob!play here: http://www.boob.co.uk/files/boobplay.zip

It's an early, early version of a media player, based on WinCE, to which GypPlay is a sequel.

See these two boob! news archives for more:

http://www.boob.co.uk/arc7-2000.html

(read from the bottom of those pages up, as the news is in that order)

I played around with it at one time. Quality was pretty decent if I remember, but it lacked controls.

You need to copy those files from a dump of a WinCE-based Midway game. I'm not sure which games work and which don't.

Is that true ? I am asking because I have my doubts in regards to the connection between a random Midway game and WinCE. All the WinCE based homebrew I've seen, including Titanium's QuakeDC (id) and Defense Commander (MS) ports, use that "midway_1.exe".

@ Basil: Welcome to DCEmulation :)

You can find a complete distribution of Boob!Play here: http://dcevolution.net/downloads/hosted/Age.rar

Just burn / mount the .cdi file and take whatever files you need.

Hrm, so we're allowed to post files ripped from commercial games now? I'll get right on uploading my whole collection!

I am just going by this:

Boob!Play = Game Hack:

The player is not a hack of the midway game. The reason you need the midway disc is that it was the first dc game running under winCE and the bootdisk, meaning the first oppertunity to do any winCE coding and testing. In fact you can delete all files except the 1st_read.bin, midway_1.exe (our player), \wince folder and likely ip.bin as well (not sure, but likely)
