The Seven Mansions Project, Japanese Title being translated

Post by Nico0020 »

I am glad to see these poping up. I always hoped this would happen along with DC computer emulators. I can see Dreamcast emulation being like how SNES emulation was. This is currently being translated by Green Ranger from another board I cant link to. Anyways here is some info:
Name:
In English the title translates to SEVEN MANSIONS. The original Japanese name is Nanatsu no Hikan: Senritsu no Bishou.

What is it:
It is a survival horror game. You pick the role of Either Kei (the male character) or Reina (female character). From what I've gathered the characters visit a remote island to visit a relative. They then find out he is kidnapped and now must search various locations for clues as to his whereabouts. As the search ensues, a threat never imagined raises it's ugly head... ohmy.gif

What's so special about it:
This is one of the few (or only as far as I'm aware) survival horror games that features a 2 player co-op game! The screen is split in two and both players can venture separately to achieve a main goal. Team work is often needed as one player will need to assist the other at various intervals. There is naturally a one player adventure too. thumbsup.gif

This survival horror game also gives players the option of picking between three different Cameras: You can select 3rd Person View (where you can see the character's full body on screen), Over the Back( viewed from characters back and over the shoulder), or First Person View (see the game through the eyes of your character).

For more information, you can check out IGNs preview of it here!

Below you can view the intro to the game, as well as gameplay footage showing some of the game already translated to English.
Seven Mansions Intro (audio may be slightly out of synch with video)

So far he says he has done:
Play as Kei or Reina in the single player games, and the 2 player game.

As far as the Kei story goes, he explores 5 to 6 mansions throughout the game. I've translated 3 mansions and am currently on the 4th mansion.

With the Reina story I believe she explores the same amount of mansions, in this case I am currently translating the 2nd mansion.

I have not gotten to the 2 player game yet.
I am really looking forward to this project!

Holy shit, that looks bad as HELL.

I've never even heard of this game. I'm interested. And wow, that's not too shabby looking at all for a DC game.

This is big news. Koei of Dynasty Warriors fame made this game. I picked it up years back hoping for either a good translation, and now a patch is in the works. This is awesome. The quality from what i played of it is visually on par with the Resident Evil updates on Dreamcast...almost on par with Resident Evil Code: Veronica.

Does Green Ranger have his own page to show his work in progress?

I picked up a copy of this a while back. I can read kana and know a couple hundred words of Japanese. I was able to figure out some of the basic puzzles and such in co-op, but eventually it got too hard. It was fun while my friend and I tried it out though. Looking forward to a translation.

How exactly do you use a translation? Does it require illicit activity we're not supposed to discuss here?
