Whats the big deal about the Simpsons movie?

I think i'm the only one who thinks this movie looks like complete ass. The whole spiderpig thing was just fucking lame and retarded and that was still the best part of the trailer which just makes my hopes for the movie ever so low. Simpons stopped being good around episode 250 and now there to 400 and everyone knows it sucks now yet they still keep making it because they're greedy whores.

That's what I said, it is a funny movie, I also enjoyed it.
What I've been talking about is that although it is funny, there isn't much wit involved, the jokes aren't funny on multiple levels, and that's one of the main things behind the success of the Simpsons.

Friends and I went to midnight showing. Been a simpsons fan forever, completely grew up watching it. I quite enjoyed it, got some laughs out of it. It was not up its own ass with a message. The story could have used a bit more depth, but all it all it was fun. Much better than a lot of the crap that has been dished out in the past few seasons. Still not like the old episodes, but worth seeing for any simpsons fan I believe.

Because its a series I grew up on as a child and to have seen it dwedell down to this state just kills a little part of childhood fond memories. Its like telling someone how great the Simpsons is now would be a joke. They'd never be able to understand how I liked it based of the movie or current episodes.

Um. The audience that this is aimed at knows exactly what you're talking about. EVERYONE knows the simpsons has turned to crap. We all get it.

The fact that they've gone this whole time without any sort of movie makes this a big deal. Also, I have the feeling that many fans hope that this may bring back some sense of quality that the series has been lacking for the past few years.

Exactly how I'm feeling about it, I do intend to watch it but I'm not going in expecting much so it's possible I might get a nice surprise.
I did see Matt Groening on TV talking about it and everything he said filled me with dread, sounded really cheap.

Well in my honest opinion this could have easily come out in the 8-10th season era...

but back to this quality speach...like everything ese the quality just can't be there after 400 episodes, and maybe it should have been over long before this point... but in comparison to a lot of other shows that hit these HUGE episode numbers the simpsons have done fairly well.

Look at the flintstones, the first prime time animated sitcom ... at the end fred was talking to a little green man that no one else could see.

Family guy IMO was great the first 3 seasons, but now is so random with ridiculous flash backs it really lacks stories now just jumbled togther pop refferances.

Overall the show has held up a lot better then many others IMO the movie was well a great episode.. all and all take it for what you'd expect out of a TV show made movie
