Re: Pokémon Trade Center
A squirtle and charmander are at the top of my list. If I can get ahold of a ditto I'll breed the legendaries. Whats this about pokerussed? I'm only just now getting to Victory Road so I'm not familiar with everything yet.
How would one trade from the gba pokemon titles to the DS anyway? I'm tempted to pick up FireRed and go nuts with it.

Re: Pokémon Trade Center
Heh, you're further into the game than I am then, I've only got 7 gym badges and haven't got much further than capping parulkia.
pokerus = rare pokeyman disease that while a pokeyman is infected means they gain more stats when they level (equivalent of using macho brace on them continously, but with no speed penalties). You can 'stack' it with a macho brace too for very fast EV levelling (see numerous GameFAQs about IVs / EVs). It leaves a pokeyman naturally after 24 hours and they never get infected again, but if you put a diseased pokeyman in a bank and leave it there it never cures itself. If you have a diseased pokeyman in your party and they fight together it spreads it to any pokeymans next to it, and then they spread it... etc.
On the whole its a good thing to have a pokerussed pokeyman around for when you are training.
As for getting old pokeymans into the DS game, you have to beat the elite 4, then go and see the professor dude - if you've *seen* all 150 DS pokémon then a new area safari zone area opens up where you can transfer 6 old ones once a day - theyre guaranteed catches when you find them (the balls you get are master ball equivalents) so if you want older ones thats one way to get them; the other is finding someone who has them already and trading.
There are a LOT of old pokemon available to capture on DS without any older games though, so you can make do with not buying an older one unless youre completist or really want the legendaries which cant make eggs and are unlikely to get traded by people.
Yeah, you can have a charmander and squirtle no problem
