Clessy's friend made this GUI easy to use convertor, just put it in the same folder as the game of choice. You no longer need to add .zip extension. If your game is mslugx.zip, just type mslugx

EDIT by MetaFox: Clessy is a backstabber for leaking a beta when he was trusted by the author to keep the build to himself, and as such he will not be allowed to be promoted here.

Does it must use convertneo.exe for playing Neo4All/AES ?
Or Can I only use 1st_read.bin file with roms folder with Neo geo roms? :?

Because when I use convertneo.exe , it was corrupt me (usage option neogeo.zip US,JAPAN,ASIA nation) Here is Korea, So I think my nation this is useless. :(

Raster effects are just like any hardware video effects, some games simply will have improper graphics without it and some may crash or something.

They are often interchangable, but who knows what he does with the converter program (using mvs or aes roms). Either way he CALLS it an AES emulator. There are differences between the two systems just like the MVS and CD. Basically what he did was take neo4all and put roms into it's memory spaces which makes a sort of hodgepodge working emulator since NeoCD was originally based on mame .36 (or whereabouts) but was modified to work with CD stuff. (i of course don't mean any offense, i'm working on something similar =P)

Metal Slug 2 does use raster effects. Odds are it's only in a small scene, maybe a waterfall or something.

I download DCsteve support file and i tested aof.zip downloaded.
And it said no valid rom set find for source file.
How to do it? Is this file is useless? or i must extract aof.zip file??

Metal Slug X played fine on the first level, skippy on the second and froze on the third (actually the image froze, the game kept playing apparently - I could tell by the sound and the fact that I could enter the L trigger menu (without seeing it).

BTW, could someone post what are the bios files names, sizes and CRC's used to get Blazing Star working without glitches?

Bios used in my test:
aes-bios.bin 128k (D27A71F1)
neo-geo.rom 128k (9036D879) - i think that one is not needed, but i had it in the folder anyway
ng-lo.rom 128k (5A86CFF2)
ng-sfix.rom 128k (354029FC)
sfix.sfx 128k (354029FC) - same file as above

i also updated the chart with this info

Rangrisser & Darkgate: NeoRageX & MAME sets are something completly different! NeoRage sets will only work with NeoRage and none of the other NeoGeo emus. I guess you will need to get the MAME sets for Neo4All\AES.

for sets with no C rom encryption MAME and neorage sets are the same although the rom naming convention is different.

for sets with graphic (C rom) encryption neorage sets are mame sets with the graphics decrypted.

in addition to this

for sets with audio (V rom) encryption neorage sets are mame sets with the audio decrypted (usually a form of byteswapping)

all of these processes are reversable, and the resultant roms will be recognised as genuine by the uni-bios even when decrypted.

they will also work in Nebula (and any other neogeo emu you can write a dat or driver for) which is not particularly hard because by that stage all the decryption has been removed.

some program roms have the AES protection removed (which is a small commonly know hex edit) and/or use the non-encrypted program roms from MAME (ie mslug3, kof99)

most are the same.

so they are MAME roms up until the 1999 games.

and after they are just decrypted beforehand rather than on load

(this assumes somones decrypted the right sets in the first place and your not using a hacked version of NeoRAGEx, the last official version being v0.6b)

if you know how you can sit down with a current neogeo MAME set and build a full NeoRAGEx set (or visa versa)

(the only exceptions to this are newer games not in MAME which use dynamic protection routines and so cannot be decrypted beforehand.)

and apparently this emu likes decrypted roms

About BIOS, it is easy, uncompress neogeo.zip from MAME on bios/ directory and find aes-bios.bin (128KBytes) and copy it too.
and btw there are hardly any AES dumps in MAME (think about it, it's not in line with the MAME ethos) i can only think of a couple, and over all there are hardly any real AES dumps around.

there are a few of the newest games that have been dumped from AES but i very much doubt those are the dumps needed as they are, eh, not openly avaliable.

i believe this emu is called AES Because it uses the AES bios,
no more than that.

the AES bios functions like a console (just like the neocd bios) so theres no need for the addition of arcade cabinet functions to emulator (like insert credit for example).

Not to rain on your parade but when I tried to use the neoconvert on my MAME NeoGeo roms if failed to work, giving me the 'invaid romset' error. I was using old, *old* roms from a MAME32 0.71 build. So I found newer ones, to the same success. I was going to quit until I tried the roms that I use with my NeoRageX emulator (Version 4.ac) and they worked perfectly. I've only tested Magical Drop 3 and Metal Slug X so far but 2 for 2 on the running.

Blazing Stars still has glitches for me, and I used the same BIOS files as Segata who has it as working; maybe he has a slightly different set for that game; that's one of the reasons why, - like mikozero is beeing saying - we (the DC scene) should use dats!

Hum... I converted succesfully any romset I tried except of SVCC...

My questions:
I failed to burn the emu into a multisession disc and load it with DcHacker. Screen gets weird and not shows nothing at all. Can't be done in this way?
The Roms that can't be converted should be placed in the emu folder in zip format or how?

I burned svcchaos,kof2003 mslug3 like over 80mb romset(converted aesfile),
And not any game playable.
Does Neo4all/Aes limited rom size within 16mb?

If there is not a pre-fetched thing for it then any unzippped file over about 12mb will not work. Thats the point of the Alpha, more popel will need to work on pre-fetch files.

SvcChaos is very playable though so I dont know what you have doen wrong with that.

It has glitchs in grafix or controlls, timers and such?
And the speed? It's like the found in NeoCD/SDL-DC v0.8 or like this?

To anyone having trouble converting roms:

Just open the file ROMRC in a text editor and check the names there. That's how I converted SVC; never mind the CRC's; just the file names. (It wasn't working at least for me 'cause the m and v roms had a - instead of a _ :| )
