i dont know, its probably due to statistics or something, well thats what my french teacher told me when he gave me the problem...Rand Linden wrote:From what university did it take students 20 minutes to figure this out?!

heres another one... its a bit stupid but still smart in a way... Your going to need to write it down on paper though
5 + 5 + 5 = 550
add a line anywhere in any direction and any size to this addition to make it true.

Um... your french teacher gave you a "math" problem?Great One wrote: i dont know, its probably due to statistics or something, well thats what my french teacher told me when he gave me the problem...
That explains it.
As for the other one, simply place a diagonal line through the equals sign to make it "not equal" and thus the statement is true.
Of course, changing the equation to 545 + 5 = 550 by modifying the first addition operator is also possible.
Rand.

lol its one of those math problems that goes arround the school my friend did it in his math class last year aswell...Rand Linden wrote:Um... your french teacher gave you a "math" problem?Great One wrote: i dont know, its probably due to statistics or something, well thats what my french teacher told me when he gave me the problem...

yea you found the two answers, although its easier to just add the line on the equal... takes a bit more time to figure the other way (well in my case anyway... im kind of slow lol)
