Why does there have to be so many Final Fantasies? Or Mario games? For the same reason there are so many Street Fighters; it sells.

you forgot super street fighter 3 turbo revival for the GBA :P

and im pretty sure there is a SFalpha3 port for the gba, but i dont know if it has a special name

also, wouldnt the capcom Vs SNK and marvel Vs capcom games count just a tiny bit too? the main capcom stars are obviously the SF crew... and it is a genuine fighter

At least each Final Fantasy game is different (new charactors, usually new land, etc etc) Each new StreetFighter seems to be same charactors, same basic areas same stories etc.

Uh...no ya don't. The arcade game was pretty horrible, but the Saturn and PSX ports made me want to kill myself.

I don't think Capcom will ever release SF4. I know that's what everybody said about SF3, but I seriously don't see a SF4 ever seeing the light of day. Expectations would be too high. All the people who would want it to stay basicly the same would be pissed if Capcom changed it too much, but then if Capcom didn't change enough, all the people who would want change would be pissed because "it's just the same game." Na...a safer bet would be to make tweaks...much like they did with SF3. I'm suprised there hasn't been a special edition of CvS2. Ya know...add a few characters, tweak the current ones, and slightly modify the stages to include new colors and such. I'd buy it.

I think Capcom said they were done with 2D beat 'em up's but none-the-less if they made SF4 all they had to do is take the engine from SF3 the characters from SFA3 and make it with true high-res sprites like GGX of course the SF fanatics may think differently but the high-resolution sprites we can all agree.

I know SF The movie is crap but I want to check it out anyway.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper (like the Naomi/DC version with extra chars, also included in the regular PSX ver. and prolly in Saturn too)

I also remember Street Fighter III 2nd Impact - Giant Attack and Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha (Gold)

True, but the principle is still there.

better yet, why did they make so many remakes of the 2nd and wait so long to make the third? I have yet to play the third, and hope that snk and capcom make more vs. games.

And I don't wanna start a flame war or an argument, but as far as 2d fighters goes, I preferred most of snk neo geo arcade games and/or the mortal kombat games. Just my opinion though, and not fact.

Agreed. I love that game. Although it's not really fair to compare it with the fighters ;)

That's the one released as Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold in SF Collection 1 on PS right?

That's my favorite also.

I started playing the series at SF2: The World Warrior, and to this day I usually prefer to play a SF game than a Tekken or other game.

Their naming system is hilarious. I'm waiting for Super Street Fighter 3 Turbo Z Alpha Zero Gamma Plus EX Sigma R Superfragmented Omega Anniversary Edition. Part 2.
It's thinking...
