DC Memory Flasher
A few (me and skynet) have needed to flash our DC's to be able to put in a new PSO serial. Links given to progs that do this have all not worked but for the last few hours me and skynet have been trying to make a version work, then WhtCastle came along and made us look stupid and we then had a selfbooting working image in no time. Anyway, if you need the DC flasher a Nero image is here

[ edit: live link - https://dreamcast.wiki/Flash_Memory_Eraser ]
When using you will think it hasn't worked but it has, it will sit on the Sega logo and have a message saying it is flashing the memory. On the side you will se a red line turn green, once green it means your DC has had its memoty flashed.

t3h bumpage!
OK, now there is a reason for this. I have seen 2 requests today asking for this thing, and it managed to slip down to page 6 or 7, thus no n00b is gonna find it there.
I can't say how long Prophet][ is gonna keep this on his webspace for, but as long as it's there we might as well make people aware of it. Mainly due to PSO still being actively played on hombrew servers and such.
So this is for those that asked for it in the other forums, you all can thank me later

Someone actually got a homebrew server for PSO to work? (Excuse me if I sound ignorant, I've been out of the loop for about a year now.)Skynet wrote:t3h bumpage!

Yes they did, go into Dreamcast Discussion forum. There is a sticky at the top of the page explaining EXACTLY what to do so you all can enjoy the PSO online goodness.
I take it that the image we're burning contains very little data? Hence why it can be downloaded so quickly, I read something like that for a file I was downloading @ 200k in a topic in OT.
But putting it on the server would be a very good idea.
It's still pretty fast, I tested the link the other day and was getting around 130k on dialupwhen I get around to it, I might put it up onto the DCemu server so that its faster and have a garentee of keeping it

That never got rid of my PSO serialthis is a good tool to replace the old 2.0 button trick the whipes the dc memory.

wow, talk about getting the most bumps.
Anyway, you might not have the right version, make sure you are running version 5.5 or above. What accually happens though? you need to give details. Does it go to the CD loading screen or what?
I still need to upload it to a more permimant location too, I totally forgot about that, I'll do it when I get home.

Don't use Nero 6.x.x.x
From what I've read it's just bad news regarding DC stuff.
Best advice would be get an earlier version of Nero, in the 5.5 series like Prophet][ said (olderversion.com or something like that, google it). Failing that google Alcohol 120% and download the trial. Both of those methods should work, although I've never personally burnt anything for Dreamcast using Alc, but I do use it for all my other image burning/mounting needs and it works great.
While this thread has come back up again:
Prophet][, have you uploaded it to DCE yet? It'd be nice to have it as a link on the main page and also a link to it in the PSO thread in DCDiscussion. As I said a few months back, you do see noobs asking for this thing every so often. Especially when they hear of the PSO server.
