Googled 'DreamNES', found this?!
With the passing of Kervin, I was curious to see what DreamNES was like. It's hard to keep track of all the different NES emus out there, ya know? Anyways, so I googled DreamNES, and one of the highest ranked results was this page:
http://drcapps.tripod.com/
Apparently, some retard is sellings NesterDC disks with 628 ROMs on it for $12.99! It would be one thing if they were all public domain ROMs, but there aren't 628 PD ROMs. I just wanted to point this out. Maybe there's something we can do to get this guy's site down.

I brought something like this before I even knew that 'emulation' exists(specially on a Dreamcast) - Beside the plain fact that this is illegal Warez, these compilations are always very crappy!
Seems it's NesterDC30 - Hey, maybe it's even the same that I brought back then
Selling PD-ROMs would be illegal too (except if they are labeled as "freeware" or you ask the authors of these ROMs for permission)
Maybe emailing this guy asking for taking that offer down would be a good idea.

Yeah, I could totally see a person new or oblivious to the emulation scene fall for something like that. I emailed him (and it hasn't bounced, amazingly) and I submitted an abuse report to Tripod.
Seeing this stuff makes me mad because I just wish I could make a living by coding the things I enjoy, like emus or games. And then this guy is making money without doing jack.

whew, that is plain rotten. While some people probably look the other way in someone having copies of old games from the 80's, I would think selling something like that has to be the worst thing you can do.

In most cases this is true, but I don't think you can sell them if they are labeled as freeware either. I think they can only be sold if they are distributed under open source software license. Example, I make an open source emulator and some pd games that are also open source. If someone else gives the emulator a fancy new interface and makes modifcations to the roms, I think they can sell it for whatever.
Now that we have seen it, may the link should be removed?

Technically if it is a truly PD (Public Domain) ROM you can do whatever you want with it, including sell it. Releasing something into public domain means that you relinquish all rights to the property. With freeware, the author retains all rights and therefore his/her permission would be required to sell the software.

It would be interesting to make a game out of this... "warezbusters". start a thread and post links you have found to people selling DC warez. every link you post and report, you get a point =P. it would be interesting at least. some may argue however it would be showing people where to get it =\.

google is a awesome search engine. I agree that this person who is selling nester whould be brought down but if he IS selling PD games on it who cares seeing how PD games have "lack of imagination" and they are boring, like the nes game sack of flour, you actually play as a sack of flour, looks as though some devs of games don't know how to say "no" to drugs.
