yo. what kind of people mod X-Boxes? I really want to get it done, but can't get a mod chip myself, let alone install one!
Well, before someone answers this question (no offense jessman ) could someone answer my new question?
I have: ***1.6*** Xbox
MA
(will download the MA save when I find it)
A second control pad extender bit and a usb drive (because I just read how to make a usb port using the extender bit and the usb cable).
So with these things I have, keep in mind my 1.6 xbox, is a mod going to work? My kernal and dash are:
You can't put the xbox hdd in a PC and unlock it unless you have the password.
The only way to get the password is to use Evolution-X (AFAIK).
I found some apps on #xbins saying they can unlock the hdd's, is this true?
Also, to go back to add to my last question. If I downgrade my dash to (whatever), can I use the MA save? I have the save (although I'm not quite sure what to do with the folders in it). Or will my kernel still stop me from using an exploit or mod?

you have to unlock the drive on the xbox so basically if you could do that you would already have it modded

OK, well I'm thinking to just hot swap it but I'm still unsure as to a) what to do with the mech save b) if my dash will let me (or even where to download an older one) and c) if I can due to my kernel.

You still need the hdd password.

The MA (or 007 agent under fire) save hack is only used to load Evolution-X.
Once Evo-X is loaded, you can ftp to the xbox and install an audio or font exploit.

I'm not sure.
I would wait until a Bios that works on version 1.6 xbox's is released (shouldn't be to long), then get a mod chip installed.
DO NOT unlock the drive until you have a mod or flash the TSOP. I did and it was a bitch to get it to lock again, had to use this weird linux variant to do it.

yeah but its a 1.6 box so he has to downgrade the dashboard also which can royally mess up the box

Hot swapping means removing a piece of hardware and replacing it with another while it is connected to a computer with the power still on (a feature of USB is to be able to hot swap devices and have them work ok). Likewise, cold swapping would be to switch harware with the computer power off.
Check your PM Skynet, its not good news but news none the less
Thanks for that, now I just gotta find out about that nkpatcher and a good tutorial for it mk. (see last PM for what I mean)
I'm sorry, what I meant to say was what does hot swapping for Xbox mean? As in what do you have to do for the hot swapping on the Xbox?
http://www.xbox-scene.com has a good tutorial as to what to do and seems very easy to follow. You will need the correct screw driver to pull it off, however. Torx 10 or 20, iirc.
