New tunneling software for PS2, Xbox and GC
"Kai is a flexible piece of (100% free) software, based on portable code, which allows you to play your XBox, Gamecube and Playstation 2 LAN compatible games online.
Based on the tremendously sucessful XLink Messenger concept, Kai is a ground up rewrite of the best gaming tunnel ever created - bringing you awesome new features such as integrated Speex.org codec based group chatting, multi-console support, separated engine / UI logic, high performance distributed Orbital server technology, 'deep' network support, an open UI API specification, dynamic component updates, a super-clean, super-styling UI, and so, so much more. Ignore what anyone else tells you to use - if you aren't using Kai, you're not even in the game."
It claims support for every single network play game for each console, plus dozens of special "rooms" for specific games - this is supposed to be as close to Xbox Live as you can get.

When I first heard of these tunneling apps, I was really excited. But when I actually tried out XBC a while ago I realised what having eMule and BitTorrent going constantly does to your upload speed. Bugger .

I wonder if the PAL/NTSC thing will be an issue for TimeSplitters 2?

Unfortunately, there's gonna be some delay with tonights release. We found, to our horror, that not *one* of the external file mirrors we had been given actually works - and there's absolutely no way we can host the binaries off this machine. We're working as fast as possible to resolve this, but at the moment, it's impossible for me to tell you how long it's gonna take. I just thought I'd post this for the benefit of the good people who've been sat here waiting all night - we're really sorry guys, but rest assured that nobody here is gonna sleep until everything is up and running.

Ok i got it working. There's a bunch of people in the Halo NTSC arena saying they can't join any servers whatsoever, and those who do are complaining of major lag that makes the game unplayable. Hopefully they can get this worked out, i like the software so far
There's seperate arenas for NTSC and PAL versions of the games. I don't know if its a compatibility thing or just so people play with others in their region, i haven't tried it yetaz_bont wrote:I wonder if the PAL/NTSC thing will be an issue for TimeSplitters 2?

There are three, listed on their website:ShadowofBob wrote:Sounds cool. I used to use WarpPipe, but stopped using it a while ago. What games on PS2 acutally support LAN games that are over ethernet and not firewire?
- Midnight Club 2
- SOCOM II: US Navy Seals
- TimeSplitters 2
Their should be more on their way soon, however.
It pissed me off that Sony removed the regular link port again, even though plenty of great games support it .

I never had any problems playing from UK to US either, as long as there wasn't somebody on a real bad connection..

Yeh, Kai seems like a nice app, I signed up when the Beta was running a few months ago, but becuase my PC is wirelessly connected to my broadband router it wouldnt work
They told me maybe one day the system would work with wireless but for now, dont bother shame eh..
As for xbconnect, thats no longer free, so why pay?
If you have a wired PC, get this!

XBConnect is not pay software. You can pay if you want and get a fewnon-essential features, but you can do all the basics with the free version.
XBC doesn't support as many titles, though.
