All the sonic games

Post by APE »

Back in an issue of the Offical Dreamcast Magazine (ODCM) they said that there were some 70-odd Sonic games. What they said was that the game they were reviewing had Sonic on his 70 something outing. I don't know if they included imports like the odd Tails Sky Adventure for the GG or the ports by Brazilian companies (I.e. Sonic Blast from the GG to the Master System) or different language versions, different country releases, etc. or not. They gave an actual number but i can't find it. The number was made when I believe Sonic Shuffle was released so newer games like Sonic Adventure 2 aren't counted. Here are the games I can figure out so far:

Master System (4)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic Chaos
Sonic Blast (Brazilian Port)(More than Likely not counted in ODCM)

Genesis (8)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic and Knuckles
Sonic Spinball
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic Crackers (BETA that tested ideas for future games like the ring thing in Knuckles Chaotix)(More than Likely not counted in ODCM)
Dr Robotnicks Mean Bean Machine (Not sure if you count this as Sonic)(More than Likely not counted in ODCM)

Game Gear (10)
Sonic Drift (Not sure if released in US or Europe, confirmed in Japan)(More than Likely not counted in ODCM)
Sonic Drift 2
Tails Sky Patrol (Not sure if released in US or Europe, confirmed in Japan) (More than Likely not counted in ODCM)
Tails Adventure
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the HedgeHog 2
Sonic and Tails
Sonic Blast
Sonic Triple Trouble
Sonic Chaos

Sega Saturn (3)
Sonic R
Sonic Jam
Sonic 3D Blast
(I know theres one missing, just can't put my finger on it)

Dreamcast (3)
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2 (More than Likely not counted in ODCM)
Sonic Shuffle

Neo-Geo Pocket Color (1)
Sonic Adventure Pocket

32x (1)
Knuckles Chaotix (Not sure if it could be a Sonic game, Knuckles Yes)

Sega CD (1)
Sonic CD

Arcade (1)
Sonic Arcade (Rare unit)

PC (4)
Sonic R
Sonic & Knuckles (Combo for PC of Sonic 2, 3, special stages, and the Sonic 2 & Knuckles and Sonic 3 & Knucles combo)
Sonic CD

Any corrections or additions are greatly appreciated. :)

I think the Master System had a version of Sonic Spinball on it. Dr Robotnicks Mean Bean Machine does count as a Sonic I think as Sega seemed to think that the Puyo Puyo series needed a familair face to sell in the west, also Knuckles Chaotix counts as a Sonic game. Sonic Drift/Sonic Drift 2/Tails Sky Patrol & Tails Adventure never came to the UK or Europe and I'm pretty sure most of them never made it to the US either. The Saturn one you may have been thinking you missed was Sonic Extreme this was to be a fully 3D game simailar to Sonc Adventure but it was never finsihed although shots of the early version did appear in the gaming press. Finally from those I remember you missed out Sonic the Fighters, think thats the right name, which was released in the Arcades and then ported on to the Saturn.

For those who get really bored, try to figure out where the line above comes from. Put answers in here http://www.dcemulation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6188

Sonic and tails for GG and Sonic Chaos for GG are the same game, just different names for different countries. Sonic and Tails is the Japanese version and Sponic Chaos is the Western version.

Tails Sky Patrol rocks, and it runs excellent on SMEG, if you can find the rom, get it, its an addictive game.

was sonic the fighters / sonic championship ever ported to the saturn?

I heard it was planned then canned, it is was ported, i want it!

There was a game called wacky worlds or something dunno wot it is or ever played it, but as far as i know sonic is in it.

There was a sonic the hedgehog game released for a mobile phone in japan too.

I don't think they counted ROM hacks - there are an unlimited number of those.

I'm sure there are more just can't think of any.

Also soinc made a cameo appearance in the PSO menu on his anniversary.
