do we really need better speed?
Personally, I think DreamSNES is the best thing ever to happen to the Dreamcast, except for Phantasy Star Online, so why is everyone griping about the speed? I think it plays really good for no money, just plain freeware. You can take this software, which is VERY good (thank you, Marcus Comstedt!), or you can go out and buy a SNES with about 500 games for $2000. Your choice, but I really don't care how it runs...It's just friggin awesome. CHRONO TRIGGER RULES!!!!!!!

Well, today I went to my local game store and played my emu there. Peoples reactions was crazy!
"whoa, how you playing super nintendo dreamcast?"
"why is it so slow? If its on dreamcast it should be perfect!"
"hey, look the disc isnt spinning. Maybe thats why its so slow." (the dreamcast had a clear cover)
"Id rather play on a real snes...why you playing this? Its the next generation of video games!!!"
Im happy DreamSNES is a success. I think they tried very hard and accomplished. Im just now waiting for the next version...

MM...
I doubt they'd make much money on it if they decided to market it.. as freeware it is great but as a commercial product it isnt. And speed isnt SOO much the issue with me, rather, I want my games to run SMOOTH, and full speed (frameskip is automatic in DreamSnes, but from what it looks like, it runs at about 5-10 skipped frames in each game.., it would be great if by the next release the frameskip would be 4 or less along with good speed...). The point Im trying to make is, well, YES, you can have a lot of fun with the DreamSnes now, speed issues and all, but it is most definately NOT a replacement for the original... not yet anyway..

Its a replacement enough for me, no worrying about losing the cartridges, its all on one disk, and yes, im willing to give up sound, i have VOLUMES of video game music, everything from Earthbound to Sonic Adventure 2 (vocal AND music Soundtrack) so hey, no big deal.

hey tails power, you reminded me of a question thats been bothering me...
Why was Snes9x chosen as the emu of choice (to port to DC as dreamSNES), when the best PC-emu out there is obviosly ZSNES?
ZSNES is multi-platform (DOS and win9x), full-speed, hardly any glitches, tons of options, and every rom seems to work perfectly on it. So why Snes9x, the buggy second-fiddle?

Snes9x was chosen to be ported because its coded in C, unlike Zsnes which is Coded in ASM, so it cannot be ported to DC, its a shame because it plays 100% speed, compatiblity etc on the PC.
