4x memory card
Hi I went to the sega website and in the hardware section is showed a 4x memory card.
http://www.sega.com/games/dreamcast/hardware.jhtml Then it said that it’s Not compatible with all software. What does tbis mean? Does anyone have one of these?

I got a "massive memory card plus" which is 8x, and I've had some troubles with it. Bleem! for MGS, TK3, and GT2 didn't work, Worms World Party didn't work, and I kept having corruption problems with Test Drive LeMans. Circuit City where I live sells official VMUs for like $9, so I just get those. Saves a lot of frustration. But I gotta say my Massive Mem Card Plus has come in handy with games like RE:CV, Sould Reaver, and Grandia2

well, most peoples problems seem to be with non-sega 4x vmus, not the sega ones themeselves... my sega 4x (the one youre referring to in the link) has page 2 set aside for bleem and the other three pages are mixed with games and emus (whatever fits) and ive never had anything corrupt on it (well my brother fudged up his nba2k1 save, but he tossed the controller while it was saving and the vmu got loose)... even games with weird protected saves worked (like PSO).... also the browser saves worked fine, and i have had a couple of imports saved, but i didnt do extensive saving with them cause they werent mine, but all-in-all, i think the sega 4x works fine, and their not compatable with all software was probable a "just-in-case" statement
oh yeah, IUG, it works fine with dreamsnes, for both saving and loading

with a sega 4x? have yopu tried saving the same game on a normal vmu to be sure?
i use it for dreamsnes without any problems... i was thinking dreamsnes might have some filename issues or something but it uses the rom header instead of filename to identify games, so it shouldnt really be an issue (and ive seen all kinds of weird characters and lengths in my dsnes savefiles)... ill take your word for it though, guess some 4x memory cards will have probs with dsnes... didnt know that before though....
