Game Organization

Sylverant is a homebrew open source server for Phantasy Star Online. Dreamcast users still play PSO online with this server even today! This is the official forum for both the online game server as well as the open source project itself. Feel free to post and get a gathering started online! We can also show you how to get connected!

Aleron Ives wrote:The quest problem is probably due to the fact that GC has a new packet to ensure that everybody starts the quest at the same time. DC does not support this packet, so GC keeps waiting for the other client to acknowledge that it's done loading the quest, but DC never does, so GC remains stuck. It's possible that this feature wasn't implemented the last time you played here, and that's why you were able to load quests cross platform.
Actually, that's been implemented in the code since when I first added GC support, so that's definitely not the issue.

As for what it is, I have no idea. Nothing has changed in the code that should affect that at all. Unless it's some weird quirk of whatever quest you're trying to load...

Even so, it didn't actually work until I asked you to fix it in 2015. GC clients would still begin the quest whenever they completed the download, rather than waiting for the other clients to finish first.

Oh... Right, derp. Forgot about the fact that I just sent it out right away initially.

Aleron Ives : you're the one I must blame so !

And indeed we played in 2014, so before it was corrected.

Too bad there is no way to skip this packet waiting.

Actually... I just wrote code that should act as a workaround. Try it out and see if you can quest together now.

The new code is only active on Iselia, so make sure you use that ship for testing it.

Once I'm sure it works and it doesn't break anything else, I'll push it up to the repository for the other ships to get in a future update.

Thanks a lot !!

It works without any problem :-)

I hope it doesn't break anything.

Glad to hear it works... Especially for how quick of a workaround it was.

Hello to everyone !

Back on our games crossplaying together with my boyfriend (we manage to setup a room for this).

Unfortunately, it seems that /allowgc doesn't work anymore on any ship :-(

I think the recent updates deactivated the feature.

Do you know if it will work again at some point ?

Unfortunately, due to some things that happened, I made the decision to make those two commands (/allowgc and /showdcpc) require GM permissions in 2019.

Hello BlueCrab ! Thanks for your answer. May I ask you how to ask for GM permissions ?

GM permissions are essentially admin and moderator privileges on the server, so... There's no way to request them, as they're only given to staff.

Oki, thanks for your answer. Too bad for us but I understand your choice. Thanks again for the hours we used to play together, we will now play quests alone :)

The better option is for one of you to set up PSO PC or Dreamcast/GameCube emulation so you can play together using the same game version.

As you can see, this forum doesn't get much activity anymore. Most players are using Discord these days.
