Barcade - Great place to drink and play classic games

Post by JuddWack »

I went to a sweet bar last weekend in Philly. Besides having a top notch beer selection, they had like 30 classic games at 25 cents a play. There were even 2 chicks in there at 1:30AM. They also got spots in NYC and New Jersey. Thought I'd toss that out there.

That sounds awesome. Here in St. Louis...

Very sad that this looks like it won't get done. I did my part and tried to raise awareness, but the guys who put this together did not do enough ground work (my opinion) building up interest before launching the Kickstarter. Really hope they get outside funding to get it made, as I'd love a new hangout place. With the Sci-Fi lounge gone, St. Louis doesn't really have any good nerd/geek type places anymore.

Wish we had a Barcade here. Oh well.

We do have the Silver Ball Room...

Pretty cool place.

We have a barcadia here in Dallas. I've gone a handful of times and it's always a blast. Just like any other dallas bar, except with retro arcade machines and gigantic jinga sets on the patio. The has a ton of class games, but what got me is they have an actual "Tempest" machine which is one of my favorite arcade games of all time. My friends and I also get pretty competitive over "Gyrus" also. It gets pretty packed on weekends, and you can't beat the quarter plays...that is unless you go on a tuesday and it's free play.

Gigantic Jenga! That's awesome! I went back last Friday night and was surprised by the amount of what seemed to be single girls there, or they could have possibly been ditched by their men as soon as they arrived because that's what we did with the three gals we rolled in with, haha. I did catch a couple smiles, problem was it was always as I was putting a quarter in a machine because that is pretty much the only time I looked away from the screen.

Apparently they recently opened up another location closer to me. The Dallas one was about a 30-45 minute drive to downtown, but now there is one in Ft. Worth which is about 15 minutes. I'm stoke, I'm gonna try and check it out this weekend! Curious if the game selection will be dramatically different.

Been here to the one in NYC a few times. Awesome place to drink and have fun with friends, but not really a place to find women, too loud. Also, It's in Williamsburg, so it's like 95% hipsters.

Otherwise, kick ass place. Can't go wrong with beer, games and awesome vibes.

The one in williamsburg has another bar near by called alligator lounge that does 6 dollar beer and personal pan pizza combos. Good place to chow down before heading to Barcade.

We have a few of these types of places out here, but I've only been to a mediocre one in K-Town.
