Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
Is the patcher program starting, or not? I'm guessing from the post that it is not starting at all...
Did they use the CDI that I posted, or did they try to burn the plain files? If they tried the CDI, did they try with v1.1, v1.0 or both? The CDIs were created two different ways, so if one works and the other doesn't, I'll have to look into that... Here's a copy of the CDI for v1.1 that was created the same way as v1.0: link. If they tried v1.0's CDI and it worked, but v1.1 did not, tell them to try that one and see if it works...
If they used the CDI, is there any way they can try to use a program like BootDreams to try to burn the plain files?

Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
I talked to Nora on PSO and told him to tell people to try the one on my site, so we'll see if that one boots on Japanese Dreamcasts. He said they were using the CDI on the Sylverant download page before.

I know, but Nora doesn't speak English, so I tried to explain in Japanese.

Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
The disk which IVES made.
He tried.
ImgBurn and DiscJuggler 4 which burnt.
baked it at low speed.
Not as a patch.
Is recognized as a MusicCD.
Road movie of the DC does not come out.
His DC can load other CD-R.
He says that he cannot often load when bake in DiscJuggler.

Is he burning this way? The Mode must be Mode 2, and RAW write is also necessary, or the disc will not be usable.

Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
He looked at the page,
Any mode seems to be no use,,
He used up all the CD-R on hand.
One thought.
By software such as AnyToISO Converter,
Convert CDI into ISO image,
can let load it in DC?

Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
No. A Dreamcast disc has two sessions, like how some music CDs have both music and PC files. An ISO image cannot contain information for two sessions, which is why a format like CDI is necessary.
To make a Dreamcast disc without CDI, you must burn the plain files using a method like this. Burning the plain files is more difficult than using a CDI, so we made a CDI to make the process easier.
Does the CDI work on other Japanese Dreamcasts, or does it not work for everyone?

Also, there are programs like BootDreams that make the process much easier (for burning plain files). This is the version of BootDreams that I've used before, and it always seemed to work out just fine.Aleron Ives wrote:No. A Dreamcast disc has two sessions, like how some music CDs have both music and PC files. Even Japanese DC can load CDI.
However, cannot often load it when he bakes it in DiscJuggler.

I have exactly the same issue. My Dreamcast is the same as the one norakuro's talking about. Don't have a PAL Dreamcast with me atm, so I can't try on it...

Have you tried using the plain files and burning with something like BootDreams?Treamcaster wrote:I have exactly the same issue. My Dreamcast is the same as the one norakuro's talking about. Don't have a PAL Dreamcast with me atm, so I can't try on it...
In all honesty, I find the selfboot CDI images to be more trouble than they're worth a lot of the time... Hell, I still generally burn things the old fashioned way, using cdrecord in a terminal.

That was actually what I was trying to do right now. If I burn into a Nero image, which type should I pick? DAO or TAO?BlueCrab wrote:Have you tried using the plain files and burning with something like BootDreams?Treamcaster wrote:I have exactly the same issue. I'll then burn it on alcohol under the RAW DAO burning method.
I've already followed ives guide and burned 2 discs using discjuggler 4 demo with no luck at all. I then tried burning the .cdi image on alcohol, as I always do, and again I got another failed copy.

BootDreams is not well known in Japan,
I do not understand how to use,
Because I am good in the English web,
want to teach a page commenting on how to use,
Page with an image is good,

Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
Hopefully this will do to explain things enough...
Pick to burn with CDRecord: Select the Directory with the 1ST_READ.BIN file in it: Pick to burn a DATA/DATA disc (should work with any Dreamcast, if that doesn't work, try an AUDIO/DATA disc): Give the Disc a name in the CD Volume/Label box (optional), and put to burn at 4x speed (or a lower number like 1x or 2x), then hit the "Burn to blank media" button: With any luck, it should burn the CD properly.

Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
I'd just use BootDreams to burn it directly with CDRecord, personally (as the post above shows how to do). If the DiscJuggler image doesn't work, most likely neither will the Nero one (BootDreams makes a CDI first, then converts that to a Nero image).Treamcaster wrote:That was actually what I was trying to do right now. Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
Thanks for the "noob" guide, however today really isn't my lucky day.
First I had to download ASPI drivers in order to make the application let me burn.
Then I did everything you mentioned and bootdreams f/cked up the CDs, although it stated in the end of the burn that it was completed successfully. When put on the DC, it started spinning like crazy making loud noises, and then it stopped...

Re: Sylverant PSO Patcher will not load on the DC
Well... I honestly don't know what to suggest if it didn't work that way... Perhaps the ASPI driver you used was broken, I dunno... I think I'm using the Nero ASPI on my machine, and it seemed to work there (Windows 7 64-bit). I've attached the specific DLL I used (You should just have to unzip it to the bootdreams tools directory with the other EXE files).Treamcaster wrote:Thanks for the "noob" guide, however today really isn't my lucky day.

This is really why I usually just burn all my Dreamcast stuff the old fashioned way (with Marcus Comstedt's directions).
