Anyone fool around with Aleph One/Marathon lately?

Talk about Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, or other DC first person shooting game ports and mods for those games in here.

Wear more make-up. Your pain is sheepish...

...oh um. I don't think this one is going to get a finish job, Bero who was porting it seems to have vanished. :/

To me the pics where cooler than the game play itself. So I am not disappointed that this is not finished. There are many better games that would do well being ported. For me a great game to port would be Descent.

This is a link to a port for Pocket Pc's.

Much cooler game.

Isn't there already a Descent 1/2 port for the DC? This could be a project for me as currently I've only ported a few SDL games (so far unreleased...).

I always wanted to play Marathon, but I could never get the windows or linux version to work on my computer. I was really excited about the dreamcast port, but the project was dropped. Though Marathon is actually confirmed for xbox live arcade, so I am really excited about that one. Though my favorite homebrew stuff for DC was the FPS ports, I played through all of the dooms on it.

DCDayDreamer compiled a collection of all three games for DCEvolution.net:

It turned out pretty cool and the games do run great! You'll need a keyboard tho.

Was it ported by Bero? Which resolution does it run at?

Yeah, Bero ported it. I am not sure about the exact resolution, but I think it's low res. Something among the lines of 320x240 or 320x200.

Here's the source code: http://sdl-dc.sourceforge.net/#alephone

So, I guess this is the best place to ask this. Is it possible to enable analog joystic controls? I asked over at the Alephone forums, and a guy said he made a joypad plugin for the game. Is it possible for somebody to mate this with Marathon trilogy and tweak the code to use the Dc controller? I asked the guys at the site to look at it, but they were all assholes...

You're better off simply getting the computer version. http://source.bungie.org/get

Lol, but that is not the point. I have had it on my PC before, and the reason I want it on my Dreamcast working is cause it is already fully ported, and full speed. I just find it better to sit on my couch and play it while having a beer on my Dreamcast with the DC controller.

Like I said, there is already a joypad plugin created. How hard would it be to implement it?

Probably not too hard, but as far as I know no one knows how to compile the source code of any of Bero's projects.

Yeah that is the sad thing man. I plan on getting a mouse and keyboard finaly for my Dreamcast before my SD Adapter comes in. It is such a shame it is limited to the few that have a KB/Mouse. What on earth was he thinking by not making Marathon and Duke Nukem 3D work with the controller. Hell, Marathon was a full port sans saves not working as it plays full speed.
