widescreen / stretch screen

I have a hex edited metropolis street racer so wide screen is pre hard coded into the rom. In reicast (android) this just displays in squashed format as there is no option to expand to fill the screen. Enabling widescreen mode just adds extra geometry. As it is possible i think to hex edit a number of titles to hard code widescreen, can a stretch to screen option be introduced? All runs well on the windows emulators such as DEMUL
