Private server (DC&PC)

Sylverant is a homebrew open source server for Phantasy Star Online. Dreamcast users still play PSO online with this server even today! This is the official forum for both the online game server as well as the open source project itself. Feel free to post and get a gathering started online! We can also show you how to get connected!

Private server (DC&PC)

Post by miles »

Hello to everyone. I'm trying to setup own private server for my Dreamcast and PC using server pack from psopalace. Could somebody explain how can I do it? I have DC and PC versions of PSO v2 successfully connected to sylverant.net. On DC I use dial-up connection. Thanks in advance.

Basically:
- run shipgate.exe
- run the other exe
- run a DNS-server and redirect PSO-URLs to your PC

P.S.: a simple DNS which I used is "FSDNSSRV" (Fuzziger Soft DNS)
P.P.S.: for the PC-Version, no DNS is needed....use "IPPatch.exe" and enter your IP-Address

And... Just to clarify, before any questions come up on it, that isn't Sylverant -- it is an old, stripped-down version of schtserv. Please don't report bugs with it here, as I've got no control over it.

Thanks a lot! But is there anywhere a newer stable version of server packs?

If you want a more robust LAN server for PSOv2, you would have to learn how to install FreeBSD and compile Sylverant from source code.

Fair warning, Sylverant isn't really meant for a small-scale or LAN-based server. It'll work, but that's really not what it's designed for.

I tend to over-engineer things as I go, which makes it not all that easy to figure out how to put it all together. Plus there's the whole lack of documentation thing (because I hate writing documentation and I just haven't had the time to do it in all these years).

Dear BlueCrab, we all already love what you're doing for our DCs. What about a lack of documentation I'll try to understand all of it by myself. I think it won't be such a problem.
