Teaser: PSO-Reader

Sylverant is a homebrew open source server for Phantasy Star Online. Dreamcast users still play PSO online with this server even today! This is the official forum for both the online game server as well as the open source project itself. Feel free to post and get a gathering started online! We can also show you how to get connected!

Teaser: PSO-Reader

Post by KuromoriYu »

See attached screenshot...

I always have a request - if we want this for DC Version - I would need packet-logs.
To create those, DC must be routed through PC, and tcpdump with pcap driver needs to be installed (WinPcap / WinDump on windows respectively)...

The command to create the log would be:

windump -i 6 -s 0 -U -w pso_dump_s171115_pc.bin tcp

-i 6: replace 6 with the right interface number
pso_dump_s171115_pc.bin: replace with whatever filename you like it to be.

What is the point of this? You can't improve Sylverant with packet logs made on Sylverant, since any packets you log are from features that already work. ;)

True, it won't enhance the server.
However - it does enhance my knowledge of PSO. It is a real neat way to study how PSO works.

And also - it is a nice utility function which does help a lot in cmode - you will know if a weapon is worth picking up.

And lastly, my main motivation, it is a lot of fun creating. "Nerd-Sudoku"

Ah, so you can't live without your BB game spying addons anymore. Stop tainting V2 with your BB impurities!

Actually, I never installed any plugin in BB ;)

So - i can perfectly live without it in any version...
