XENOCIDER KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN IS LIVE!!!!

http://kickstarter.com/projects/retrosu ... -dreamcast

Xenocider is a 3D arcade action game with retro-futuristic aesthetics for Dreamcast, Windows, Mac, Linux and 3DS!

An innovative approach to the on-rails shooter genre and the first 3D arcade game for the Dreamcast in over a decade, this is our personal homage to the classic Space Harrier, with a little influence from Galaxy Force and Sin & Punishment thrown into the mix!

As we promised, we made our playable demo available for download. Visit the Kickstarter campaign and enjoy!

Help us write a new episode of the history of the Dreamcast. Pledge now!

I'm skeptical of Kickstarter projects in general, but this seems to be doing everything right. I especially appreciate the playable demo, and the new stage is giving me Master System flashbacks

Backed and shared on FB. Looking forward to the game!

...Is the original version of the demo mirrored anywhere? I'm having trouble burning the Dreamcast demo, and I'm trying to determine whether the issue is with my software or with the file itself.

I'm on a Mac running OS X El Capitan and LiquidCD, which supposedly can handle all three file types (though in practice, I've never gotten it to burn a Nero image for Dreamcast successfully).

The DiscJuggler image only shows as having one audio track (usually, self-booting DC images have at least two tracks, either audio/data or data/data) and pops up an error if I try to burn it.

The CloneCD image shows as having four audio tracks and a data track, and it refuses to burn because it claims the complete disc will be 4GB, which is too big for a CD.

(Mac version was fine, but I was hoping to show this off on Dreamcast)

Are you using a virtual drive or something? It may give you trouble burning DC isos. We have tested all the isos, burned them again last night, and they worked fine. I'm on a Mac with El Capitan as well, and I simply use Discjuggler from my Bootcamp/Windows partition... :\

The Linux 64 version shows an xmessage window with signal 17 on Debian, while the 32 bit version works. Removing libpulse from the filesystem works, but I'm using alsa. Libpulse must be installed because it's a dependency of some software.
You should point out that pulseaudio is a dependency or fall back to alsa.
The game also doesn't seem to react to window resizing.

Must be an issue with LiquidCD, then. It can handle burning Dreamcast images most of the time, but it isn't perfect.

And no, I wasn't using any sort of virtual drive; I was just using the burning tool LiquidCD to try to burn one of the downloadable disc images to a blank CD-R. I don't have Windows, either as a separate partition or in a virtualized form, so I'm stuck with the tools that are available natively in OS X.

So you managed to solve the issue then? :\

Well, the demo is available for Mac too! It plays like a dream on the DC, though :P

Yeah, as I said:
Code:
mv /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpulse.so.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpulse.so.0.bak

Will fix the issue. I don't have the 32 bit library installed, so I think that the 32-bit game doesn't find the library and therefore falls back to ALSA, hence why that also works for the 64 bit library. The game should work normally on a standard debian system with pulseaudio installed, so don't worry too much.
But if you want to do this right, you should try to load pulseaudio first, and when that does not work, try alsa (I don't know how your code works).
You need to be a bit careful when you assume what libraries are installed.
The only way I found out what the issue was, was by using strace to see that it tries to load libpulse.so.0. A normal user could really use an error message "could not load pulseaudio" or something.

Thank you. I'll pass your comment to Chui (programmer) and let him know for future revisions :)
