With nearly 3500 units sold, Neo Geo port LAST HOPE is one of the most successful Dreamcast indie games out there, and the game's authors NG:DEV.TEAM now are back with a brandnew Neo Geo MVS arcade shmup reminiscent of Capcom's Dreamcast classic Mars Matrix:

FAST STRIKER features six stages with over 40 unique enemy types, 3D backgrounds, and very detailed CGI bosses.

The game emphasizes on scoring so there are three very different game modes of varying difficulty (NOVICE to MANIAC) utilizing entirely different scoring systems. The video shows beta footage of the MANIAC mode.

Game Features
  • 6 Stages
  • 3 Game Modes: Original/Maniac/Novice
  • Elaborate Scoring System
  • Up to 180 Enemy Bullets Simultaneously on Screen
  • 40+ Fully Animated CGI Enemies
  • 6+ Huge Fully Animated Boss Enemies
  • 3D Scrolling CGI Backgrounds
  • Constant 60 fps
  • Difficulty Rank System
  • Internet Ranking via Code
  • Full use of 1560 Megabits (the biggest Mbit count of any NEO GEO game to date)
  • 25+ mins Full Digitized Stereo Soundtrack
  • In-System Software Updates via USB Port
  • Released in two variants:
    • 1. SHOCKBOX LE (Only licensed for private use, includes Soundtrack CD)
    • 2. ARCADE / GAMECENTER MVS KIT (Licensed for commercial use)

Seriously though, good to see that they got it released.

I don't even understand what that means... I mean I know each individual word, but they don't seem to make any sense in context... :?

EDIT: Shortened the newspost and edited some stuff out, including that Particle Streaming stuff.

Why you posting beta videos of upcoming Neo Geo Games?

This has nothing to do with the Dreamcast, unless they announce plans for a port.

Where did you get the sales figures for Last Hope and do they include Pink Bullets?

I posted this because Last Hope was one the best Dreamcast games of the past few years, and because I think this deserves some coverage.

I got the sales data from ngdevteam's website and it does include Pink Bullets (1000 units produced).

With that logic we should post every time Treasure, G.Rev, Skonec, Milestone, and all the other small inde development studios that supported the Dreamcast, unless a Dreamcast port is announced it isn't relevant to the news.

The only reason we post commercial Dreamcast news these days is because there is barely any Dreamcast news out there otherwise back in the day we only posted emulation news.

I humbly request you to move it to Gaming Forum, that way they get the coverage you want them to and the news remains relavant to Dreamcast, also more people are likely to look at it in the gaming forum as most people directly come to the forums anyway.

You know what this means, right?

RedSpotGames doesn't hold any Inde-Dreamcast sales records, atleast not with Last Hope.

The only reason why I don't do that is because I don't have the time.

I wholeheartedly disagree.

And besides, trust me if I say that chances that this game won't end up ported to Dreamcast are next to non existent.

I can only speak for myself but I post what I post because I think it's relevant and interesting.

I do think it's unlikely that they'll recover development costs with the MVS version, but maybe they would rather do XBLA/PSN/Wiiware than DC...

I agree. That's why I wrote "next to non existent" ^ ^

- Even if they end up on XBLA/PSN/Wiiware, I highly doubt they'll skip Dreamcast :)

Yeah if they are releasing it for Neo-Geo, I highly doubt they wouldn't mind hitting any other capable dead system.

Great idea. Port it!

Although a part of me wonders if this would be playable through Neo4all MVS.

The Neo Geo CD version of Last Hope is perfectly playable via Neo4All/CD.

Why don't you edit your news post and write in the last line:

Now we wait for a Dreamcast Port announcment?

AFAIK, it's using a 1024Mbit C ROM space, which existing emulators probably don't handle because no other game uses it. Also, there's some kind of protection on it (microcontroller) that would need to be emulated or otherwise bypassed. Bootleggers are the only ones likely to do this very soon, and even they might not be interested these days as they're making a killing selling 100-in-1 Neo cartridges and emulator-based boards already.
