Indie Game Sales Record Controversy

Post by cube_b3 »

In April we reported that R4 regular edition had sold out and hat set a sales record breaking the previous Sales Record for indie games set by RSG published Last Hope:
RedSpotGames wrote:Rush Rush Rally Racing is the latest game by redspotgames and Senile Team and hit the shelves on October 30th 2009. Not even 6 months after its release all units of the Regular Edition are sold. Hence redspotgames exceeds the sales figures and sales speed of all Sega Dreamcast titles since 2008. The publisher already set a sale record of Indie Games on the Sega Dreamcast with their 2007 title “Last Hope”, which lasts until today.

After the pulication, we were contacted by Dan Loosen of Goat Store Publishing, who informed us that his publication company and associated developers weren't contacted for any sales information therefore R4 breaking a sales record created by Last Hope as of press time is an unverifiable statement.

Furthermore RedSpotGames haven't released any sales figures so it is impossible to compare them with any other Dreamcast Game Sales. Nonetheless, the fact remains that R4 regular edition has indeed sold out as associated distributors such as NCSX, Play-Asia, GameChoiceClub have it listed as sold out.

Dan Loosen's statement about RSG's Record Sales can be read here:
