Are there any BOR modding guides still around?

Post by Arden »

I got into the DC homebrew scene rather late, so I'm having a bit of trouble locating guides for BOR(DC) game editing. It seems like most of the websites that contained said information are no longer around. I'm not even sure if I have the correct BOR game (one compatible that is compatible with the Dreamcast - like I can burn CD's and play the game on my system)

I'm interested in making a DC (Comics) Vs. DBZ BOR game for the Dreamcast. I have sprites and backgrounds, but I'm at a loss of how to add them to the game. Is Dreamcast software composed in Assembly like the Genesis/MD?

Hi there and welcome to DCEmu :)

I suggest you start by examining how the original game is structured by paxploding bor.pak. Then compare it with your favorite mod (i.e. Hyper Final Fight, etc.).

The most important document is the OpenBoR Manual hosted here at DCEmu:
http://dcemulation.org/?title=OpenBORManual

It deals with OpenBor but all the basics still apply to the original game.

I am not sure how the recent Dreamcast ports of OpenBor perform but you should be able to find out at the OpenBor community at www.chronocrash.com

If you have any other questions I will be here to help.
