Hmm...
Well, I'm thinking of Porting StepMania to dreamcast soon. Everyone I have told thinks I'm crazy but I am going to do it.
I am planning on taking the source code and modifying it so that it doesn't run as great as the PC version.
I think the final product that I make will run but with lag. Either that or massive frame skipping (which is horrible for DDR). I'm just going to see if it's possible.
Also, I'll see if I can add some CPU optimizations for it, and if you overclock your DC that would help probably. Anyways, I'm off to go port the unim"port"ant.

Two things:

1. You talk as if you have no idea what it takes to port a game as massive as stepmania to the dreamcast. But if so be my guest and make me look like a total ass.

2. You should try starting with the psp stepmania sourcecode. It will be much simpler. That is if you actually are going to do this.

I didn't even know that they had stepmania for PSP.
I might start modding that or I could just mod the linux source code and use some libs from linux to get it to run on the DC.

Doubtful. Before your post, it had been over a year since anyone had posted in this topic.

psp stepmania isn't based on pc stepmania and its closed source, unless thats changed recently. I tried to port Stepmania and i got it compiled hacking a lot of stuff but it didn't work :( so best of luck with it, hopefully you are more successful then I was.

The source for Beat2X (A DDR clone for GP2X) is available here : http://www.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,57,1761
It should be a tad easier to port since it already runs well on a less powerful system.
Doesn't feel that necessary though, since we have FoF.

i think porting this without video decoding for background
and only using the steps with a fixed background could
be possible. pump it up fans will pleased with this...including me.
