That's excellent. What software are you using, and did you have a particular goal for the triangle or vertex count?

Re: capcom models
It looks awesome. I wonder how well it animates.
I remember you also have a Lei-Lei model.

And since Fightoon is cancelled due to everyone's 'ugh its ugly its not dremacast standard fuk u' selfishriighteousness here I have no engine to put this in so have don't expect any potential Capcom-inspired Dreamcast title.

Re: capcom models
Yes, but the game could have taken more than 3 years from now to get done. What I asked myself is, "will it be worthwhile?". The answer is no.
Anyway, the characters we were using have 506 polygons (including 4 superfluous ones that we didn't have time to remove). Anything over 550 polygons dropped the framerate too much.

Re: capcom models
Your models are totally awesome. I'm sure if you made a complete set of models and backgrounds you'd be able to find a programer. The issue is normally the other way around. Programers cant find anyone to do there graphics.

1. I remember two people saying 'ugh it's ugly'.linlinlol wrote:And since Fightoon is cancelled due to everyone's 'ugh its ugly its not dremacast standard fuk u' selfishriighteousness here I have no engine to put this in so have don't expect any potential Capcom-inspired Dreamcast title.
2. There's Darkplaces/Dreamplaces by Chui. Also, chances are that once that is released, Fragger will take a good look at the source, so maybe we'll see another release of nxMakaqu too.

Anyway, it doesn't matter.
That won't happen. Darkplaces is almost a total rewrite of the Quake engine. As an example, I tried to copy DP's OGG audio support over a couple years ago, and found out that I would have to modify the entire sound system. Darkplaces' graphical engine goes even further, requiring massive changes in the whole engine.Christuserloeser wrote:2. There's Darkplaces/Dreamplaces by Chui. Re: capcom models
I meant two things. First, this forum isn't the only place that had people criticizing the game's visual quality. I've read people's negative and positive opinions in several websites, including non-english ones.
Second, those negative opinions didn't cause the game's cancellation. We already were in a difficult situation at the time we released the first screenshots. Our original plans were to start releasing screenshots by last December, when we should have already surpassed the state the game was when we released the video this June. That didn't happen, and we've spend the whole time between January and May trying to recover the lost time and fix the problems. When we realized it was absolutely impossible to finish the game, we decided to cancel it and to polish it just a bit more so we could let people have a small idea of what the gameplay would have been like.
And I'm fat, not ugly.
